These are hard times. I do several things every day to keep myself closer to the Green. Here are some of the tools I use weekly/daily:
Walk my dog
Spend time with my husband and kids
Breathing Exercise, on purpose, usually 20-30 minutes a day
Listen to music
Eat lots of veggies
Limit sugar...and enjoy sugar
Be kind to myself
Stay connected with Friends & Family
Watch Netflix
Play Darts
Stretch
Do Tai Chi
I'd like to say I exercise regularly, but at this point, all I am managing is dog walks... and that's okay.
I am trying to adjust my expectation to accept that I cannot just do one "self care" act and all will be well. It is truly multiple conscious decisions all day long to be kind to myself and juggle my responsibilities with my mental/physical/emotional health.
I'm motivated during this pandemic because I know that slipping into a more critical state takes a toll on my immune system. I want to stay strong and healthy for myself, for my family, and for my patients.
Wishing you well,
Sarah
Are you thriving or just surviving? The COVID pandemic has created a concurrent crisis around mental health. We all need to be taking care of each other, but that includes ourselves. This is especially true for healthcare workers. This site from the Colorado Healthcare Ethics Resource Group offers information and resources to help address the anxiety and stress that can, if left unaddressed, deteriorate into crisis. https://cohcwcovidsupport.org/
