Thank you to all of the legislators and community leaders who attended the IU Health Community Health – Bloomington Open House over the weekend.

During the event, attendees learned about community programs that support infant and maternal health, chronic disease management, aging populations, behavioral health, and the social determinants that impact overall health.

The open house was followed by a community health fair offering free screenings and resources, helping connect individuals and families with services that support healthier lives.

We appreciate everyone who joined us and supports efforts to improve the health of our community.

Stations will include:
• Free health screenings | Public Health (immunizations), blood pressure checks and general wellness screening stations
• Maternal, family and child health | Nurse-Family Partnership, Safe Sleep education (ABC), infant care and breastfeeding resources, Milk Bank information and support, and the WIC healthy snack station
• Child safety and development | Safety program (Free bike helmets for kids and car seat education), Coordinated School Health fun kids’ activity/game and To***co Prevention: Interactive “Why Not to Smoke?” game

Kristen is a key reason for the success of our Family Vitality program at IU Health Bloomington Community Health. Thank you for your commitment to our clients!

In honor of National Advanced Practice Providers Week, we’re highlighting some of our highly-skilled APPs, and today’s team member in the spotlight is Kristen Bunch, CNM, FNP-BC.

Kristen is a Certified Nurse Midwife and Family Nurse Practitioner with our OBGYN team. With 17 years of experience, she provides care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

A unique part of Kristen’s work is leading Moms Heal Together—a free therapy group that assists pregnant or postpartum individuals with children under two years of age who are experiencing substance use. The group focuses on developing substance use recovery skills while monitoring the pregnant individual’s baby’s health during pregnancy.

We are so grateful for Kristen’s dedication to compassionate, patient-centered care!
