Chinua Achebe /

Chinua Achebe (1930–2013) was a Nigerian novelist, essayist, and thinker whose voice reshaped how the world understands African identity and history. Born in the Igbo town of Ogidi, he grew up listening to the rhythms of oral storytelling, which later became the heart of his writing. His work challenged the colonial narratives that had tried to define Africa from the outside, restoring dignity, memory, and cultural pride to African literature. His groundbreaking novel Things Fall Apart introduced the richness of Igbo life to the world and remains one of the most widely read books of the modern era. Achebe continued to explore history, politics, and human struggle in works such as No Longer at Ease, Arrow of God, A Man of the People, and the war novel Girls at War. His essays, especially in Hopes and Impediments and The Education of a British-Protected Child, speak with moral clarity about justice, power, and the responsibility of the storyteller. Through his words, Achebe became a voice for the unheard and a guardian of the human spirit’s right to truth and freedom.

That means sometimes dealing with uncomfortable feelings for the sake of growth within yourself. And that means standing up to those who seek infringe on those tenets. That is how we get to true wellness for everyone.

We as adults have been ready to crash out over some fairly trivial things, but when a child is using the limited tools that it has to express a need, we expect them to use skills that WE don’t even have 🤨. Maintaining regulation can be difficult; but this is how we build the building blocks for later conflict resolution, self-awareness, and empathy. What have you all used?

(No, they don’t “complete” you 😑)
Do me a favor: evaluate your attachment style. According to Ainsworths attachment theory, people have characteristics of 4 types; secure, insecure-avoidant, insecure-resistant, with disorganized later being added. Which do you think you are? You have questions, I have info. DM me to dive down this awesome rabbit hole.
