WomanWise Midwifery is a small midwife-owned private practice which integrates well-woman gynecology and holistic, full-scope midwifery care in a birth-friendly hospital setting. And the French word for midwife is "Sage Femme" which translates to "Wise Woman". We believe that every woman's body has the innate wisdom to give birth, and that every expectant woman has a right to quality, individualized healthcare that is respectful. We are with you every step of the way: We provide the tools and information you need so you can make informed decisions about your health, pregnancy and birth. We encourage and expect full involvement and participation of our patients and their families in this process. Our births happen exclusively at Einstein Medical Center Montgomery, an academic institution that is mom-baby friendly. There you will find a full scope maternity unit, including a Level III B NICU , 24 hour medical anesthesia, and rooming in. Each private room has wall-to-wall windows, a flat screen TV, and sleeper sofas for family members. Birth balls, hydrotherapy and mobile fetal monitoring are also available to all our laboring moms. Our nurses are very familiar with the midwifery model of care, and we work as a team to get you the experience you want. And after your baby is born, a Lactation Consultant will see you everyday during your stay.

We at WomanWise join the birth community in lamenting the closure of Lifecycle WomanCare. For 47 years this amazing institution has supported women and families with sensitive, humane, caring and compassionate gynecological and obstetric services in an out-of-hospital setting. It is a genuine loss and another reminder of how our health care system is broken.

WomanWise is happy to offer a landing spot for LWC clients seeking midwifery care for prenatal, birth and GYN services. While we catch babies in a hospital setting, we have extremely supportive nurses, collaborating physicians and protocols at Jefferson Einstein Montgomery to ensure clients feel respected in their choices for the kind of birth they desire.

We’re delighted to welcome Courtney Kuhl CNM to our practice!

Like all of our midwives, Courtney has a diverse and interesting backstory. She was raised here in Bryn Athyn and went to college in Washington state. She then spent several years as an outdoor educator, leading backpacking and ski expeditions in remote wilderness areas across the United States and India.
After earning her BSN, she worked as a Labor Nurse in Wyoming before returning to Pennsylvania for her midwifery training.
She earned her MS in Midwifery from Thomas Jefferson University, completing most of her training at Einstein Montgomery.
She gave birth last year to a beautiful daughter (with midwives of course).

Many of you have met our newest midwife MEGAN DONAGHY -- but did you know her interest in midwifery began when she saw the birth of her younger brother? Ask her about her work with Doctors Without Borders in Tanzania, South Sudan and Bangladesh (where she provided obstetrical care for refugees and internally displaced populations.) WOMANWISE is offering prenatal yoga Fridays at 4:30 in our Blue Bell office starting October 20th!

Our instructor is Dr. Heather Ruddock, a local pediatrician at Advocare Fairmount Pediatrics Montgomery County in East Norriton, PA. Check out her practice here:

Dr. Heather has always had an appreciation for the importance of steady breath and movement to calm the mind. It is no surprise that she fell in love with yoga as a more restorative activity after decades of running.

A constant learner, her prenatal yoga teaching style combines strength and alignment with a breath-focused SLOW FLOW which she hopes leaves mothers feeling accomplished, relaxed, and supported throughout their pregnancy.

Classes will be on Fridays at 4:30pm at the Blue Bell location starting October 20th.
Please bring $5, your own mat, blanket, and props (blocks and a strap).

WomanWise bids a tearful goodbye to one of our beloved midwives, who moved to Maryland this weekend. Mickey's compassion and empathy made every interaction with her a joy. She came to us as a fledgling midwife in 2021 and through her hard work, commitment and passion has grown into an excellent provider. In typical Mickey fashion, she didn't want to cause a fuss by telling our patients she was leaving, so you can share your kind thoughts below. We will all miss you McCall (yes, that's her real name). And if anyone finds themselves on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, look her up!
