❄️Shovel Smart This Winter❄️
Snow shoveling can be great exercise—but it can also lead to back strain or even heart trouble if you’re not careful. Before you head outside, keep these safety tips in mind:
- Warm up first – Stretch your arms, legs, and back before you start.
- Use the right shovel – A smaller, lightweight shovel can help reduce strain.
- Lift with your legs, not your back – Bend at your knees and keep your back straight.
- Push when possible – Pushing snow is easier on your body than lifting.
- Take breaks – Pace yourself and stop if you feel tired, dizzy, or short of breath.
- Listen to your body – Chest pain, lightheadedness, or unusual discomfort are signs to stop immediately.
Staying safe helps keep winter enjoyable for everyone. If you do experience an injury or don’t feel well while shoveling, our care team is here for you.
Stay warm, stay safe, and take care of yourself this winter!
