Nicole and Nate, alongside staff member Nefertiti, took their advocacy to Washington, D.C. this March for the Disability Policy Seminar 💬✨ From learning alongside experts to meeting with members of Congress, they proudly represented Blue Cap and Illinois while raising their voices for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Beyond Capitol Hill, they explored the city, built connections. and created unforgettable memories. Their journey is a powerful reminder that self-advocacy drives change—and every voice matters. 💙

Last Friday, showed up and showed out. 🙌 They hosted an incredible Girls Night — complete with female DJs setting the vibe, powerhouse bartenders behind the bar and bringing the heat in the kitchen. But the heart of the night? A collection drive for feminine hygiene products benefiting Blue Cap’s Pantry. Good music, good food, good people doing good things. That’s the kind of community we love to spotlight. 💜

Blue Cap’s own D’Shawn McCallister recently attended The Transition & Resource Fair hosted at Ray Graham Training Center, sharing energy-saving tips as a ComEd Energy Force Ambassador.

Through conversations with students and families, he demonstrated firsthand the doors Blue Cap opens to independence.

March is Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month—a time to recognize ability, increase understanding, and continue building stronger, more inclusive communities.

We can confirm it was a Pretty First Day of Spring in The City of Blue Island Illinois! ☀️

Blue Cap wasted no time stepping into the new season, right along the beautiful Cal-Sal Trail…

It was nice to slow down in gratitude, and watch a few boats pass by and finally feel the warm breeze off the Chatham Street Bridge.

Just down the block, others gathered in friendship and celebrated Spring’s return in The Ron Blouin Memorial Garden—while some just wanted to have a few laughs over Jenga.

We’re so thankful to be a part of this community, one who walks with us through every season.
