✨Walking After Birth✨
👩🍼In the first few months postpartum, your body’s still healing — but gentle movement in the first few weeks can help circulation, mood, and recovery.
Wondering when it’s safe to start walking after birth? Let’s break it down week by week 👣 (this is one of many options, but a good general guideline and starting place - always consult your medical provider or pelvic floor therapist for more specific info)
👣Week 0–1: A few minutes around the house or down the driveway. Think circulation + fresh air several times a day.
👣Week 1–2: 5–10 minutes of slow walking once or twice a day if it feels good. Rest when your body says to.
👣Week 3: Bump it to 10–15 minutes — still at an easy pace. Keep checking in for heaviness, increase bleeding or clots, pain, or leaking.
👣Week 4: Up to 20–30 minutes if you’re symptom-free. No speed goals yet — just rebuilding confidence in movement.
⚠️ If you notice bleeding, pressure, leaking, or pain — that’s your sign to scale back and check in with your pelvic floor PT!
