"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation..." – Martin Luther King Jr.

Decades later, this dream still calls us to examine the world our children inherit. May we keep building a future where people are measured by their character, not their skin color or circumstance. ❤️

Big feelings get easier to handle when kids know how to ask for what they need 💬. Start with one simple, clear request like "Break, please" and practice it during calm, low-stress moments, then use it together before tougher transitions or tasks. With repetition, your child begins to speak up for a break instead of melting down.

At ABA Centers of Florida, ABA therapy puts communication skills first so everyday frustration can grow into steady, meaningful progress.

Myth: ABA is a scripted program that looks the same for everyone.

Reality: Effective ABA therapy is always personalized to the individual. Clinicians start with a thorough assessment, collaborate with families to create meaningful goals, and choose teaching strategies that respect the person’s strengths, culture, language, and daily routines. Treatment plans are adjusted over time using data, family feedback, and the learner’s priorities so support keeps evolving in the right direction.

Decoding ABA: An Essential Guide

Term: Motivating Operations (MO)

Think of MOs as the shifting conditions that change what feels worth working for in the moment. 💧After playing hard outside in the heat, a cold drink of water suddenly becomes more valuable and you are likely to work harder to get it, which is an establishing operation in ABA therapy. Once you have had a big drink and feel refreshed, water is less appealing for a while, which is an abolishing operation. By noticing these motivating operations, ABA teams can better time teaching moments, choose reinforcers that truly matter right now, and ease frustration for the learner.

Understanding your child’s window of tolerance can transform how you support them through overwhelm, sensory overload, or emotional stress.

In this compassionate guide, we explain why individuals with autism may have a narrower window, and how parents can gently expand it using co-regulation, sensory supports, and evidence-based strategies.

If your family needs support navigating emotional regulation, meltdowns, or early intervention, ABA Centers of Florida is here to help.
