Social skills and pragmatic language are often used interchangeably, but they are not the same ๐ฌ๐
Pragmatic language focuses on how we use words with others. This includes turn taking, staying on topic, understanding tone, and reading body language. Social skills look at the bigger picture of interacting with others, such as sharing, cooperation, emotional regulation, and problem solving.
Both work together to help children connect, communicate, and build meaningful relationships, and therapy often targets both ๐
