This International Women's Day, we recognize the women whose compassion and dedication help guide donors through one of the most meaningful experiences of their lives. 💙

From answering questions and offering reassurance to supporting donors every step of the way, their work helps turn a simple decision to help into a lifesaving transplant for a patient in need.

Thank you to the women who make this mission possible every day. ✨

Hear from Dr. Bruce Lenes, Gift of Life’s Co-Chief Medical Officer, on why donors ages 18 to 35 are the most requested 🧡

Younger donors are linked to better transplant outcomes, and while both men and women are urgently needed, transplant centers often request young male donors because they typically provide higher stem cell yields.

If you are between 18 and 35, joining the registry takes just a few minutes and could one day save a life. And if you are outside that age range, you can still make a difference by helping us spread awareness.

Broeden is 17. On December 22, 2025, his mom, Kerynn, took him to the doctor because he was feeling weak and in pain. His blood counts were dangerously low, and he was immediately admitted to Boston Children’s Hospital.

There, Broeden received a diagnosis no family is ever ready for, Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). He started chemotherapy right away.

Now, to beat AML and recover, Broeden needs a stem cell or marrow transplant from a matching donor. Right now, he does not have a match in the worldwide registry.

That is why we are asking you to swab.

If you are 18 to 35 and in general good health, joining the registry is a simple cheek swab. You could be Broeden’s , or the match for another patient still searching for hope. 🧡

Today is Random Acts of Kindness Day! 🧡

Kindness is usually the little stuff. Holding a door. Sending a text.
But sometimes it’s something you do in minutes that can show up years later when someone needs it most.

In 2011, Brandon joined Gift of Life Marrow Registry while working as a camp counselor at Ramah Day Camp in New York.

Ten years later, he got the call that he was a match and donated stem cells to save Dr. Amy Lang, an oncologist battling leukemia. After the one-year waiting period, they connected and realized they live only about an hour apart.

👇 Leave a comment to show love for our donors, the staff who make every transplant possible, and the patients still waiting for their match.

This , we are sharing Rose’s story to highlight why registry diversity can be lifesaving. 💛

Rose is a wife, a mom of three daughters, and a Physician Assistant who has spent her career caring for others. In 2020, she was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). Rose needs a stem cell or marrow transplant from a donor who shares her tissue type, but none of her siblings are a match.

Because matching is inherited, patients often have the best chance of finding a donor from someone who shares their ancestry. Rose urgently needs a donor with African or Haitian ancestry.

Order a swab kit and join the Gift of Life Marrow Registry today. One cheek swab could be the start of Rose’s second chance. Please share to help Rose find her .

Behind every blood cancer diagnosis is a person with a unique story. This World Cancer Day, the theme reminds us that people must be at the center of care.

With approximately 1.2 million blood cancer cases each year worldwide, patients are searching for the one donor who is right for them.

Join the Gift of Life Marrow Registry with a simple cheek swab or share this post to help us reach someone’s match. 🧡

February is Black History Month. At Gift of Life Marrow Registry, it is also a time to highlight why diversifying the registry matters for blood cancer patients.

Matching is based on inherited tissue types, so patients often have the best chance of finding a from someone with similar ancestry.

If the registry is not diverse enough, patients can face tougher odds and longer waits. Join the registry with a cheek swab and help strengthen the donor pool. 🧡

Donors are sometimes asked to give a booster of white blood cells (a donor leukocyte infusion) a few months after the transplant to help their recipient in the recovery process.

More rarely, a donor may match with an entirely different patient and have the opportunity to save another life! 💙

Cheek swab kits are tested for Human Leukocyte Antigens (HLA), which are a key part of the immune system. HLA markers are inherited from our parents, just like hair or eye color, so patients have the best chance of finding a match with someone who shares a similar ancestry or genetic heritage.

Curious about how recipient updates work after donation? 🤔 Transplant centers may send recovery updates to Gift of Life Marrow Registry, and whenever we receive them, we make sure to pass the news along to you.

Keep in mind that every center follows its own schedule, and some do not send updates at all. Thank you for your patience and compassion as each recipient’s recovery journey is unique.
