The holidays activate stress for many people. Stress management doesn’t have to be elaborate—consistent routines, going to bed and waking up around the same time, and a good book can go a long way.

What do you do to many holiday stress?

If you are a reader, what are you reading? I recently read Necessary Lies by Diane Chamberlain, a historical fiction novel set in 1960s rural North Carolina. Both interesting and educational!

The holidays can be joyful and overwhelming—both can be true.

From a mental health perspective, slowing down isn’t indulgent, it’s protective. What does slowing down look like for you? Sleeping in? Saying no? A quiet walk outdoors?

Reading is a powerful form of self-care: it reduces stress, grounds attention, supports emotional regulation, and gives the nervous system a much-needed pause from constant stimulation.

For me, I value quiet moments that include a few (or many) pages with a cup of tea. ☕️ If you are a reader, wha are you reading?
