Professional Sports Concussion Care is a specialized center providing Neuropsychological evaluation and consultation to athletes that have sustained a sports-related head injury, and who are looking for an independent first or second-opinion. With growing concerns about the effects of concussions on the brain, accurate diagnosis and return-to-play decision-making are critical to an athlete’s long-term health. As neuroimaging (CTI and MRI) are not contributory in the majority of concussive cases, Neuropsychological assessment provides the best window into the brain. Professional Sports Concussion Care is led by Dr. Kenneth Kutner, a Board Certified Neuropsychologist with over 25 years of experience evaluating concussion in the National Football League (NFL). Dr. Kutner is a nationally recognized concussion expert who is sought out by professional athletes in all sports for first and second opinions for decisions regarding return-to-play in the same season, as well as continued participation in the sport. He is currently in his 27th season as the team Neuropsychologist for the New York Giants, and continues to run their baseline and post-injury Neuropsychological concussion program. Dr. Kutner is also Clinical Assistant Professor of Neuropsychology in the Department of Neurological Surgery at Weill Cornell Medicine-Cornell University, where he trains residents in concussion management and is actively involved in seminal research on sports-related traumatic brain injury. In 2015, Dr. Kutner created Professional Sports Concussion Care to provide an expert, independent opinion in the best interest of the athlete. He understands the importance of maximizing career playing time, but more importantly protecting the safety and long-term health of the player.
