🍁 Stay Steady and Safe This Fall!
As temperatures drop and leaves cover the ground, slips and falls become more common — especially among older adults and those recovering from injury. The good news? Most falls are preventable with a few simple steps and consistent movement!
Here are 5 ways to reduce your fall risk this season:
1️⃣ Clear Your Pathways – Keep steps, driveways, and walkways free of wet leaves, clutter, and uneven surfaces. Use non-slip mats near entryways.
2️⃣ Light It Up – Shorter days mean darker evenings! Ensure outdoor lights are working and use night lights inside for safe navigation at night.
3️⃣ Wear the Right Footwear – Choose supportive, non-slip shoes — even indoors. Avoid walking in socks or loose slippers.
4️⃣ Stay Active and Strong – Balance and leg strength are key to preventing falls. In-home physical or occupational therapy can help you safely improve your mobility, coordination, and confidence.
5️⃣ Check Your Home Setup – Add grab bars in bathrooms, secure loose rugs, and arrange furniture for clear walking paths.
