💛 Caring for the Caregivers 💛
Support & Stress Reduction Tips from F.I.T. PT
Being a caregiver is an act of love — but it can also be physically and emotionally demanding. This December, we are shining a light on the incredible caregivers who help their loved ones stay safe, supported, and independent at home.
Here are helpful ways caregivers can reduce stress, protect their well-being, and feel more supported:
🕐 Take short, intentional breaks throughout the day to recharge
🤝 Ask for help — from family, friends, or professionals
📝 Stay organized with checklists, calendars, or daily routines
💬 Talk to someone — whether a support group, therapist, or trusted friend
💤 Prioritize rest and sleep to avoid burnout
🚶 Incorporate light daily movement to reduce tension and boost energy
🍎 Eat regular, balanced meals — caregivers often skip their own
💧 Stay hydrated to support focus and stamina
🧘 Practice simple mindfulness or deep breathing to ease stress
📚 Educate yourself about your loved one’s condition so you feel more prepared
🪑 Use proper body mechanics to prevent injury when assisting with mobility
⏳ Set realistic expectations — you can only do so much, and that is okay
❤️ Celebrate small wins, for both yourself and your loved one
