A little holiday Microneedling special for all of you beautiful humans! During this season of going and doing (so often for others), let this be an offer to slow down and do something for yourself! 🧖🏻‍♀️✨

One microneedling session is a TREAT, and a series the true TREATMENT. You’ll see a minor shift from one, but I generally advise a minimum of 4 (depends on skin, age, etc).

Sessions can only be scheduled 4-6 weeks apart, as the skin needs time to integrate the treatment, heal, and generate new collagen.

In Chinese Medicine, Autumn 🍁 is the season when the Lungs 🫁 are most vulnerable. Our Lungs love moisture, but in the fall the air becomes cooler and drier.

This can affect our system with dryness that shows up as.

🍁 Dry cough

🍁 Scratchy throat or chest tightness

🍁 Dry skin (Lung in CM is associated with the skin)

🍁 Constipation (the Large Intestine in CM is the Lung’s paired organ, and requires moisture from the Lungs to remain lubricated)

But nature, in her wild genius, prepares for this perfectly!

Insomnia & sleeping 😴 difficulties are a really common issue I hear about with my patients.

There are a whole SLEW of reasons we struggle with sleep. Obviously stress and the many manifestations of stress, is a leading cause.

But under-eating (especially coupled with over-training) is in itself a massive stress on the body. And in my personal opinion, a common and overlooked cause of sleeping trouble.

And other issues. Under-eating doesn’t allow for proper hormone function or even digestive function. It also may cause you to retain and even gain weight. Your body is basically in survival mode.

We often under-eat without realizing it because we’re busy, restricting certain foods, stressed, or trying to maintain a certain appearance.

THE ✨MAGIC✨ OF ACUPUNCTURE

Let me just start off by saying….she was literally looking around the room like she was high, I tell you. She was also bending her arms & neck, testing how they feel…as if she was just born into a new body. I was loving every second of it! Was so endearing and also so AMAZING to witness! ✨😍

This incredible human is superwoman - she’s running a successful business, raising a thoughtful & kind child, and being an amazing partner!

All that running around can really build a solid boundary between you and, well…yourself.

If you’re constantly producing, always doing - it’s far more difficult to feel your body & listen to the messages it’s communicating with you.

Can’t feel your body if you only exist in your head.

But, your body, my friends…your body is your ally.

It is always sending you messages. Best to pay attention to the little messages (the headaches, body aches, digestive upset, fatigue) NOW - learn to honor your body’s needs - before they turn into BIG scary messages years down the line.

Not always do I get to witness that kind of a transition, that kind of awakening in real time. Often it’s a slow progression over visits. But it was truly a gift - both for her and myself - to watch the before and after this patient went through.

So happy you’re now connected to you! And excited to see how you progress!

Another lunar new year is upon us! 🧧🎊

I’m clearly a few days behind on this…welcome to the year of the Water Rabbit, my friends!

The year of the Tiger was a time of action, of for making big, even impulsive changes in life.

This year, the year of the Water 💦 🐰 Rabbit, however, is expected to usher in a softer period of peace and self-reflection.

The Rabbit, in Chinese culture, is a strong symbol of peace ✌🏻, patience, and rest. And also one of abundance, creativity, and quick-witted cleverness.

The Water element indicates an ability to tap deeply into our inner wisdom and emotions, and the ability to “go with the flow” with ease and agility.

Piecing these two together, we look at the year of the Water Rabbit as a year to prioritize:
- Self-introspection
- Deep connection to self
- Connection to others
- Level-headed & intentional decision-making
- Working smarter, not harder
- Softness
- Letting go of control

The more patient, reflective, and deliberate we are with our decisions this year, the more likely we will be to find success on all levels! Happy Year of the Water Rabbit! 💦🐰🎊✌🏻♥️

Myself and two other amazing women are collaborating to bring you an event meant to restore, energize, balance, and expand you!

Join us for a 2-hour experience to restore your physical, mental and energetic body. This mini-retreat co-led by myself, & will be held on the beautiful rooftop of the aloft with views of downtown and walking distance to Delray's very own monthly .tribe (which we’ll head to for nibbles, shopping, and more community right after the event!)

A couple posts back I wrote about the importance of ovulating. Long story short - no ovulation means no progesterone…means a whole cascade of issues that can impact your cycle, mood, sleep, and so much more (go read the full post for more of the deets).

The question so many have is - how do I know if I’m ovulating?

Around day 14 of your cycle (first day of your period is day 1), start looking for any of the indicators below that often signify ovulation. While these don’t 100% confirm ovulation, seeing one or multiple of these generally indicates ovulation has happened…

*Note: the timing of these symptoms will be different for each body, depending on the length of your cycle*should appear

🍳 You may see clear discharge that’s a little stretchy, much like the consistency of an egg white. It may last a few hours or even a couple days. Once it’s gone, you’re likely done ovulating.

⁉️ You may experience discomfort, heaviness, or cramping. It generally doesn’t last longer than a day or two.

😻 Your s*x drive will often spike during the few days leading up to, and after ovulation.

🌡️ Your basal body temperature (BBT) will rise anywhere from .5 to 1 degree Fahrenheit. BBT should be tracked first thing in the morning before getting out of bed. Progesterone is a warming hormone, so as ovulation happens you’ll generally notice a spike in temperature.

If you’re still unsure, the following options can also be helpful:

🧪 Ovulation Predictor Kits are at-home tests that utilize LH strips to see if you’re making Leutenizing Hormone. LH spikes to signal the dominant follicle to release an egg.

🩸 Blood tests can be performed to see progesterone levels on cycle day 21 (or 7 days after ovulation “should be” based on your cycle length.

Again, you want to be ovulating…whether you want a pregnancy or not! Ovulation ensures proper hormone balance and better health outcomes as you get older.

Ovulation is super important! Truly…It’s that good good 😉

Yup, even if you don’t want a baby - you definitely want to be ovulating!

Why? Because once you release an egg (ovulate), the remaining follicle - now referred to as the corpus luteum - releases a bunch of PROGESTERONE!

And progesterone is sanity! It’s happiness and stability. The good stuff. Read on and I’ll clarify…

Progesterone does all these fabulous things for your health:
👍🏻 Reduces stress & anxiety
👍🏻 Supports restful sleep
👍🏻 Lowers inflammation
👍🏻 Supports thyroid function
👍🏻 Reduces excess estrogen
👍🏻 Supports immune health
👍🏻 Needed for pregnancy

Some possible (don’t necessarily implicate progesterone) indications of low progesterone include:
😐 Irritability & anxiety
😐 Insomnia
😐 Difficult PMS symptoms (breast tenderness, intense cramping)
😐 Infertility
😐 Low libido
😐 Skin problems
😐 Irregular cycles, heavy bleeding & spotting
😐 Thyroid & metabolic issues

Here’s the thing though. In order to have sufficient progesterone levels in the body, you must be ovulating 🥚.

Without ovulation, progesterone levels will be low. Many women have monthly bleeds🩸without necessarily ovulating!

And if you are on (certain forms of) birth control, you’re also not producing progesterone.

So how do you know if you are indeed ovulating? And how should you tend to yourself if you are not doing so…stay tuned for upcoming posts!!
