Save this now, thank yourself later 🙏

Boundaries feel impossible until you remember this: you don’t owe anyone access to your body, your choices, your trauma, or your energy. Especially during the holidays when everyone suddenly has opinions about everything you’re doing. These scripts aren’t rude - they’re self-preservation.

You can say them politely. You can say them firmly. You can say them and then change the subject. You can say them and leave the room. You can say them and not explain further because you don’t owe anyone a dissertation on your boundaries. The people who truly care about you will respect them. The people who don’t? That tells you everything you need to know about them.

Your boundaries are not up for negotiation. Your mental health is not up for debate. Your recovery is not a family discussion topic. Your body is not public property. Protect your peace like your life depends on it, because honestly, sometimes it kind of does.

Screenshot these. Send them to someone who needs them. Need help setting boundaries? That’s literally what we do. Link in bio 🤍

There’s a common myth that therapists don’t really care and that we listen because it’s our job, because there’s a clock running, because it’s “professional.”

But the truth is quieter and much more human.

We wonder how you’re doing when the weather changes.
We hope your dog is okay after that vet visit.
We think about whether you finally got that time off, had that hard conversation, or allowed yourself a moment of rest.
We celebrate your wins…even the ones you don’t realize are wins yet.

At Therapeutic Oasis, we are therapists… and we are people.
People who hold hope for you when it feels hard to hold it yourself.
People who cheer for you in between sessions.
People who genuinely care about the life you’re building, not just the symptoms you’re working through.

If you’ve ever wondered whether someone is really in your corner, please know that you are not doing this alone.

You are seen. You are thought of. And you are supported, always. 🤍

Your holiday survival toolkit 🎄
(you’re gonna need it)

The holidays are beautiful and stressful and triggering and joyful and overwhelming all at the same exact time. Your nervous system is going to be activated. Your boundaries will be tested. Old patterns will try to resurface. That’s not a failure - that’s being human in a high-stress season. The good news? You have tools.

OPPOSITE ACTION: Do the opposite of what anxiety tells you. TIPP SKILLS: Cold water, intense exercise, paced breathing when panic hits. DEAR MAN: Ask for what you need effectively without apologizing. RADICAL ACCEPTANCE: Accept what you can’t control (like your uncle’s opinions). SELF-SOOTHE: Use the 5 senses for grounding. STOP: Don’t send that text, don’t say that thing - pause first.

These DBT skills aren’t just therapy concepts, they’re actual practical strategies you can use in real time when your mom makes that comment, when your anxiety spikes at the party, when you want to engage in behaviors you’re trying to change. You don’t have to use them perfectly. You just have to try. One skill. One moment. One choice at a time.

The holidays can bring joy but, for many navigating eating disorder recovery, they can also bring stress, overwhelm, and pressure around food.

One powerful tool our therapist uses is a “trial run” practice: a supportive, guided practice to explore emotions, identify triggers, and build a cope-ahead plan before the big day.

This exercise helps clients rehearse the skills they may need, from grounding techniques to boundary setting, so they can enter holiday gatherings with more confidence, clarity, and self-compassion. 🌿✨

You don’t have to face the season alone.

If you or someone you love could benefit from professional eating disorder support, Therapeutic Oasis is here to help.

A letter from your future self:

Dear you,

I’m writing to you a year from now. I know you don’t believe me yet, but I need you to know some things.

We don’t check our body in every reflective surface anymore. Actually, we walked past a mirror yesterday and didn’t even glance. Wild, right?

We ate lunch today without calculating anything. We were hungry, we ate, we moved on. I know that sounds impossible from where you’re sitting.

We said “no” to something last week and didn’t apologize seventeen times or lie awake replaying it. We just... said no. And survived.

That thing you’re white-knuckling through right now? We let it go. Not because we “got over it” but because we learned we didn’t have to carry it anymore.

We stopped waiting to feel “ready” to start living. Turns out, you start living first and the readiness comes later.

We’re still not perfect. We still have hard days. But here’s the difference: we don’t hate ourselves through them anymore.

The anxiety is still around sometimes, but it’s not running the show. We learned to say “thanks for trying to protect me” and do the opposite action anyway.

We found our people. The ones who don’t need us to be smaller or quieter or more convenient. They just... like us. As we are.

We’re sitting outside right now. The sun is warm. We’re not thinking about what we need to fix or change or control. We’re just... here.

I’m not telling you this to make you feel bad about where you are now. I’m telling you because I remember sitting exactly where you are, convinced this kind of peace was for other people.

It’s for you too.

Keep going. You’re closer than you think.

Love, Us

A tiny peak at our new Oasis 🤍 and more to come!

If you haven’t heard the news- we moved last week! 📦

What a feat it was to gather and move an office that has been in place for so long. But, thanks to our amazing team, we did it and we are settling it at our new home.

We will give you a more formal introduction once the dust has settled and we’re unpacked. Until then here’s a little peak at the new Oasis. 🏠 🔑

Wait... you’re telling me this ENTIRE TIME it was my trauma?! 😭

Your personality isn’t the problem. Your trauma responses aren’t character defects. They’re adaptations that made perfect sense for what you survived. The “independence” that keeps people at arm’s length? That was your nervous system learning that vulnerability equals pain. The people-pleasing that makes you lose yourself? That was how you stayed safe when conflict felt life-threatening.

Here’s what changes everything: when you realize these patterns aren’t WHO you are, they’re what HAPPENED to you, suddenly they’re not fixed traits - they’re things you can work with, understand, and heal. You’re not broken or difficult or too much or too little. You’re a human whose nervous system did exactly what it needed to do to survive. And now, with the right support, you get to teach it new ways of being.

That’s what trauma therapy is. That’s what we do at Therapeutic Oasis - we work with individuals, couples, and families to understand these patterns, heal the wounds underneath, and create new ways of relating to yourself and others.

Which one made you stop and say “omg that’s me!”? Save this if you need the reminder. Ready to work on this? Link in bio 🤍
