Since 1979, Ruth & Norman Rales Jewish Family Services (JFS) has provided help, hope and humanity to residents residing in South Palm Beach County through a comprehensive range of programs and services for people of all ages and beliefs. In particular, the agency has become a vital resource for local and elderly residents, providing senior companions, caregiver support, financial assistance, food

programs, socialization programs, counseling and support groups, and holocaust survivor assistance. Each year, JFS has steadily grown its services and built upon its unparalleled reputation in the community as an agency that cares. With the number of seniors residing in Palm Beach County anticipated to more than double by the year 2020, JFS began planning for the future needs of seniors through their Strategic Planning Process. In order to continue to enhance programs of the agency and to plan for the future needs of seniors living in our community, the JFS Board of Directors approved the creation of JFS at Home, LLC a non-profit organization. This new entity, JFS at Home, LLC, provides the full-spectrum of home care for seniors so they can remain living at home where they feel most comfortable and with the greatest level of wellness, dignity and independence throughout life. Such services are often a welcomed alertnative to moving to a nursing home or assisted living facility. What distinguishes JFS at Home, LLC from other homecare agencies is the long history of trust and respect that Ruth & Norman Rales Jewish Family Services (JFS) has established throughout the community. That reputation is based on over 35 years of providing programs and services with integrity, compassion, social responsibility and humanitarian values JFS at Home, LLC offers Companion Services, Home Care Services (including HHA’s and CNA’s), as well as Geriatric Case Management.

This week, we’re celebrating someone truly special to our JFS At Home family — Barbara Levine.

Since 2016, Barbara has generously shared her time, heart, and expertise with our organization. After a remarkable 30+ year career as a Registered Nurse with Memorial Healthcare System, she continues to make a meaningful impact every single day.

Barbara is known not only for her incredible attention to detail and dedication to quality care, but also for the kindness, warmth, and positivity she brings into the office.

As one team member shared, “Your willingness to volunteer and give so generously of yourself truly makes a difference.” Another added, “You are always a breath of fresh air in the office… your dedication and generosity are appreciated beyond measure.”

From supporting long-term care insurance billing to maintaining client files and offering her wisdom to our team, Barbara’s presence is truly invaluable.

Meet Our JFS at Home Caregiver of the Month: Laventure Exama

Every month, we celebrate the heart, dedication, and compassion of our caregivers. For August, we are proud to recognize Laventure Exama for going above and beyond in his role.

What do you love most about your profession?
"Things I love most about my profession are:
Communication—being responsible for relaying information between patients, families, my supervisor, and other healthcare professionals. Empathy and compassion—both are must-haves for my profession. Patience—you need to know and understand patients' feelings, and provide them with the personalized care they need. Adaptability—because every day and every patient are different. You need honesty and kindness in life."

What advice can you give to other professional caregivers/companions about what is most important in this role?
"My advice is: be professional and responsible. Be empathetic and compassionate. Be patient, etc."

What are your hobbies/what do you enjoy in your free time?
"My hobbies are vacationing and enjoying myself with my family. In my free time, I watch sports, watch the news, and play in my backyard, etc."

🌸 APRIL – Madeleine

What she loves most: “Making a real difference in someone’s life every day. Bringing comfort, companionship, and support is incredibly rewarding.”

In her free time: She enjoys spending time with family, cleaning (yes—she finds it peaceful!), and participating in church activities.
