At Katie's Kids Yoga, our mission is to share the gift of Yoga with all children by offering classes to children of all ages. Katie's Kids Yoga honors the whole child by focusing on mind, body and spirit. This integrated approach enhances concentration, focus, relaxation, coping skills, body awareness, mindfulness, flexibility, self esteem, respect for oneself and others. The postures and exercises in yoga teach the child skills for coping with stress and how to energize or calm oneself. Katie's Kids Yoga encourages children to open their minds through Yoga so they can learn to challenge and develop themselves creatively and calmly. Our classes introduce poses, meditation, gratitude, and relaxation techniques to manage stress and increase an overall sense of happiness and inner peace. By starting Yoga at an early age, children can learn to establish a mind-body connection and life long skills that lead to a balanced life. This is a priceless gift that you can give to your child. Move Your Body, 🌿✨🤍Calm Your Mind..

• Inhale → reach arms up
• Exhale → fold forward
• Inhale → halfway lift
• Exhale → fold
• Slowly roll up

Repeat 5 times, matching breath to movement.

Why it works:
Connects breathing to motion → shifts from stress mode to calm mode.



🚶‍♀️ 2. Mindful Walking Reset

How:
• Walk slowly for 2–5 minutes
• Notice each step
• Match steps to breath (2 steps inhale, 3 steps exhale)

Add: “With each step, I arrive.”



🌊 3. Shake + Still

How:
• Shake out arms and legs for 30 seconds
• Then stand completely still
• Notice heart rate slowing

Great for releasing stored tension before calming down.

Connection movement is when kids move together while being kind, respectful, and aware of friends.
It helps us feel happy, calm, strong, and included, and reminds us that we are better when we move together.
🤸‍♀️ 1. Mirror Me

How to do it:
1. Pair kids up and have them face each other.
2. One child is the “leader” and moves slowly (arms up, side steps, gentle stretches).
3. The other child copies the movements like a mirror.
4. Switch leaders after 30–60 seconds.

Builds: focus, body awareness, cooperation

🚶‍♂️ 2. Buddy Walk

How to do it:
1. Pair kids side-by-side.
2. Ask them to walk together at the same pace.
3. Encourage quiet steps and matching movements.
4. Try walking slow, medium, then fast.

Builds: teamwork, calm movement, awareness of others

🎵 3. Move & Freeze

How to do it:
1. Play music and let kids move freely (walk, dance, stretch).
2. Stop the music suddenly.
3. Kids freeze like statues.
4. Ask them to notice how their body feels before moving again.

How to integrate mindfulness and movement
Mindful walking: Turn a walk into a sensory experience. Encourage your child to notice how the ground feels, the sounds they hear, the smells around them, and the sights they see.

Simple yoga: Guide children through easy poses like Tree Pose or Downward Dog, focusing on their breath and the feeling of their body moving through each pose.

Stretching exercises: Ask kids to focus on the feeling of each stretch, noticing how their muscles feel as they extend and release.

Belly breathing: Have your child lie down and place a stuffed animal on their belly, watching it rise and fall with each breath, or guide them through “Bumblebee Breath” where they hum as they exhale.

Mindful transitions: Use moments of transition, like getting ready for school or bedtime, to practice slow, deep breaths.
