What your A1C number actually tells you
(And what it misses)...

Your A1C came back at 5.8%.
Your doctor said "slightly elevated but nothing to worry about."

Here's what that number actually means and why you might want to pay closer attention.

What A1C measures:
Hemoglobin A1c reflects your average blood glucose over the past 90 days.

The ranges:
Below 5.7% — Normal
5.7–6.4% — Prediabetes
6.5% and above — Diabetes

What it misses:
A1C is an average, which means it can look "fine" even when glucose is spiking significantly after meals and then dropping. Someone with dramatic spikes and lows might have the same A1C as someone with stable, steady glucose.

It's also less accurate in certain populations including people with anemia, and some ethnicities. A1C is a valuable starting point, but not the full picture.

Question of The Day:
Is it safe to drink alcohol while I'm on antibiotics?

The honest answer is It depends on the antibiotic

Most antibiotics won't cause serious harm if you have a glass of wine, but some, like Metronidazole and Tinidazole, cause a severe reaction with alcohol

Think nausea, vomiting, rapid heart rate.

And even with safe antibiotics, alcohol can slow your immune response, which is the opposite of what you want when you're fighting an infection

Our rule: when in doubt, skip the alcohol until you finish the course

Are your medications working together, or against each other?

Most people assume their doctor has reviewed every combination of medications they're taking. In reality, that comprehensive review rarely happens during a standard appointment.

Drug interactions, nutrient depletions, dosing issues, and unnecessary duplicates often go unnoticed for months, sometimes years.

At Pharther Health, we offer a FREE Medication Review for patients currently taking 3 or more medications.

In this review, we:
✔ Assess each medication for appropriateness and necessity
✔ Screen for drug-drug and drug-nutrient interactions
✔ Identify any dosing concerns based on your kidney and liver function
✔ Provide a clear, written summary of findings

This isn't a substitute for your doctor, it's an expert second set of eyes on your full medication picture.

5 things they never taught you in pharmacy school
About leading people

(I learned most of these the hard way)

1. Your clinical credibility doesn’t automatically
transfer to leadership credibility

Being the most knowledgeable person
In the room is not the same as

Being the person people want to follow

Trust is built differently than expertise

2. The best leaders in healthcare
ask more questions than they answer

The impulse to fix and solve
Is strong in clinicians

We’re trained for it

But a team that never develops
Its own problem solving muscle

Becomes permanently dependent on you

3. Feedback is the most important clinical skill
that’s never taught as a clinical skill

Giving someone
Meaningful, honest, kind feedback

Is harder than most
Patient counseling conversations

Practice it like it matters

Because it does

4. Your energy sets the culture.
Not your policies, not your procedures

If you’re burned out and
Running on empty

Your team feels it

The environment you create is a
Direct reflection of your internal state

5. People don’t leave bad workplaces.
They leave leaders who made them feel invisible

The costliest turnover in pharmacy
Isn’t always about pay

It’s about whether someone
Felt seen, valued, and developed

These aren’t soft skills

They’re the hardest skills
I’ve had to build

Save this if you’re stepping
Into a leadership role

Or share it with someone who is

The most common question we get:

“Is this really different from just calling my regular pharmacy?”

Here’s the honest answer:

At a chain pharmacy, your pharmacist may have 200–300 prescriptions to fill that day. They have 90 seconds (if you’re lucky) to talk to you.

We don’t dispense medications, we manage your health

At Pharther Health, you get a pharmacist who:

👤 Knows your full medication list & medical history
🔍 Reviews everything together - prescriptions, OTC meds, supplements
📞 Picks up the phone when you call
🔁 Gives you continuous care for any chronic conditions, wellness, nutrition, weight loss & medication costs savings
👨‍⚕️Streamline your care by communicating and connecting with all of your physician’s
🎓 Has doctorate-level training and advanced certifications
💙 Actually cares about your outcome, not just your pickup

We’re a husband and wife team based in South Florida, and we built this because we were tired of watching patients fall through the cracks of a system that was too busy to notice them.

If that sounds like what you or someone you love needs, we’d love to meet you.

📞 First call is always free. → link in bio

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!
Let this be your sign to go after the thing you keep talking yourself out of

It won’t be easy.
It’s not supposed to be.

That’s the price and the beauty of chasing something that actually matters.

Easy roads don’t lead to big dreams.
Keep going.
