NEW YORK STATE UPDATE

Governor Hochul will deliver the 2026 State of the State Address on Tuesday, January 13, at 1:00 pm from the Hart Theater at The Egg at the Empire State Plaza in Albany. As details are released, we will continue to share updates. It is a yearly tradition worth watching, as it helps set the direction for the year ahead.

A special election has been announced for Tuesday, February 3, to fill vacancies in the 47th and 61st Senate Districts and the 36th Assembly District. These vacancies were created by the resignations of former State Senators Brady Holyman-Sigal and Sean Ryan, and former Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani.

FEDERAL UPDATE

The second session of the 119th Congress is now underway. The U.S. House is expected to vote today, Wednesday, January 7, on whether to advance legislation that would revive enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies for three years, after they expired in December. The bill is anticipated to pass the House on Thursday with support from all Democrats and a small number of Republicans.

If approved, the measure will then move to the Senate, where next steps will be determined. We will continue to follow developments as Congress takes up this issue.
