Phuong Thuy Tran

Phuong Thuy Tran passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on February 13, 1951, she was the beloved daughter of the late Gia Sy Bui and Hai Thuy Vu, who instilled in her the values of faith, humility, and devotion that guided her throughout her life.

She is survived by her siblings: Nga Bui Landry, Chau Thuy Le, Quang Sy Bui, Canh Sy Bui, and Ngoc Thuy Bui. She was preceded in death by her brother Quynh Sy Bui.

Phuong was the devoted wife of Ninh Dinh Tran and a loving mother whose life was centered on God and family. A faithful Catholic and longtime member of Old St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, her faith quietly guided her actions and strengthened her daily life. She was known for her gentleness, generosity, and steadfast loyalty.

She was a proud and devoted mother to Tuan Minh Tran and his wife Anh Thu Tran, Khoa Dinh Tran, and Kathleen Ngan Kim Ward and her husband Matthew William Ward. She found her greatest joy in her grandchildren—Adeline Kim Tran, Benjamin Ninh Tran, Audrey Thuy Tran, Luke Matthew Ward, Ellison Quynh Ward, and Isla Kate Ward—whom she cherished deeply.

Phuong expressed her love through quiet service and constant presence. She joyfully cared for her family, sharing meals, traditions, and daily life, and creating a home wherever her loved ones were gathered. By her example, she passed on her faith, cultural traditions, and values with grace and humility.

Phuong Thuy Tran will be remembered for her gentle spirit, quiet strength, and unwavering devotion. Her legacy lives on through the family she nurtured, the faith she practiced, and the love she gave so freely, which will continue to guide her family for generations to come.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on January 3, 2026, at 11:00 AM in the sanctuary of Saint Paul the Apostle Catholic Church,161 N Dean St, Spartanburg, SC 29302. Visitation will be held after the mass from 1-3 PM at the Floyd Mortuary Boiling Sprins Chapel, 4161 Highway 9, Spartanburg, SC 29316, followed by a family gathering at 405 Carrington Drive, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.

"Have you considered which traditions you want included in your service?"

Include what shaped you. Faith-based rituals and cultural practices give structure to grief, and the ones that mattered to you in life should show up in your goodbye. That might mean Catholic mass, Jewish prayers, smudging sage, or something your family has done for generations. If you grew up in one tradition but moved away from it, talking about what you do and don't want helps your family navigate that tension.

These conversations get complicated when different generations hold different beliefs, but having them now prevents confusion later. We work with all faith traditions and cultural practices, and we'll help your family coordinate whatever rituals feel right to you.

Please join us on Saturday, December 13, 2025, as we participate in the laying of wreaths for the annual Wreaths Across America ceremony. There will be a brief ceremony beginning at 12:00 noon, in the Veteran's Section of Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, followed by the placement of the wreaths. All are invited to participate as we pay tribute to and honor those who so bravely served our great country. Parking will be available at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307.

Meet the Team Monday! Say hello to our A-Shift Captain Moose, a 38-year veteran of the Fire Service with 28 years at Boiling Springs. With 1,000s of calls under his belt, he loves the Jaws of Life tool for Auto Extrication. When not working, he snacks on Cheez-Its and collects model trains.
