It is with much thought and regret that I am announcing my decision to not be a Medicaid provider beginning January 2025. The reason is due to the change over to Magellan Healthcare and their inability to get my account in order in a timely manner. It looks like I will even have to get lawyers involved and I am very disappointed with Idaho's decision to have Magellan service Medicaid clients. I know I'm not the only one to have problems with this switch; however, when I'm approaching my 4th month of not having claims being paid, I've got to think of myself and my family. Hope you are all doing well and I appreciate everyone who DID refer to my services for Medicaid. I wish you all the best.

The way forward from trauma is by confronting in the present what your past had taught you to avoid. It's not easy but pain is not a badge of honor - it's how we learn what's important and what needs care and attention. It is meant to be a 'propeller' of growth and strength. This will only happen if we stop ignoring our negative habits, face why we have them and change.

My Uncle taught me to fill my vehicle up with gas as soon as it dips past the 1/2 way mark. There are many positive reasons for this action. It's actually so engrained in my thinking that I get kind of panicky if it's at 1/4 or.....eeeek....less. My brain has learned to be aware of the gas tank.

Emotions and moods are the same. We CAN train our brains to react a certain way to very specific stimuli but it takes a long time and it won't happen overnight; however, if you don't want to be anxious or depressed anymore you CAN learn to control your thoughts. People in our society don't think it's possible because we don't teach our kids, at an early age, how to do these things. Our brains are soooooooo strong. In the same way I have trained my brain to watch out for my car and the gas after many years of continuing this habit, we can also train our brains to let go of things that stress us out or make us sad. It IS in our power.

For so many years, men have been taught that they are only men if they hold in all their emotions and pretend emotions don't exist. Unfortunately, it has created a cycle of "machismo" in men who feel they have to handle everyone's problems, and not talk about any of their own.

Luckily, times seem to be changing. The understanding of depression and anxiety in our fast-paced nation is being more heavily considered. Famous men are now coming out to talk about their battles with depression and anxiety, in efforts to get people to understand that it's a very common problem and one that shouldn't be ignored.

If you or someone you know needs help with anxiety, PTSD and/or depression, call me today. Show the world that it takes a strong man to ask for and accept help, instead of acting like problems don't exist. 🙂

My number one challenge as a therapist is helping people become "AWARE." We're not in a society where people understand and are in tune with themselves so much that they know how they affect others, and what they bring on themselves. We are in a very blaming, self-victim-focused, hurt-others society.

Helping people understand that their patterns of behavior and beliefs have EVERYTHING to do with their own patterns of life occurrences is very difficult. People are comfortable in their chaos and what they know. They often don't even realize it, even if I tell them dozens of times.

If you feel like you're stuck on the wheel of pain and suffering, and you're ready to get off, please call me and schedule an appointment. I can help! :)

One of the most common practices I teach people is, "If we TRULY understood that people believe and treat us the way they are and not the way we are, we wouldn't be offended by anything." Basically, nobody in this world has the same exact experiences in life and they form beliefs based on what they know and understand. In this media-driven world, we can easily get upset with posts and often the art of respectful disagreement goes out the door. Learning to understand and accept what you CAN control vs what you can't control is vital in maintaining a peaceful mind.

If you're struggling with the negativity and anger you're feeling and seeing online as well as in real life, I can help. There are strategies that can help you deal with your feelings of anger and sadness, allowing you to be a person less controlled by negative emotions. If you'd like to make a change for the better, contact me today!

If more people actually let go of things they couldn’t control, there would be a great reduction of stress in their lives. The difficulty isn’t in knowing what you can’t control, but actually letting go. That act alone is so hard for people, because we want to think we have complete control of everything that happens in our lives. The reality is, we only have control of ourselves.

If you are having a tough time with stress of any kind (e.g. work, home, relationships, media, etc), call me today for an appointment. Let me help teach you how to let go, and find a more peaceful mind. :)
