PERIMENOPAUSE, let’s talk *dirty* about it.
Perimenopause can start as early as your 30’s and may persist for decades to come. Hormone changes during this time are gradual, but volatile. The average age of menopause is 51, but we can be perimenopausal up to ten years prior.
When we think of menopause, we often think of hot flashes and night sweats (known as vasomotor symptoms). However, symptoms of perimenopause are far more broad than that: joint pain, brain fog, insomnia, depression, anxiety, weight gain, vaginal dryness, decreased libido… the list goes on. The level of acceptance of female suffering in this country is astounding, especially during perimenopause. We must change this narrative. Treatment of perimenopause not only makes you feel like you again, it can also reduce the risk of osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, and dementia/Alzheimer’s.
If you are experiencing symptoms of perimenopause, there’s hope. Let us help.
