Hello everyone, as you know, the IDAHO HEALTH CARE ASSOCIATION has been fighting the 4% Medicaid cuts, and we need to do this together. We have messages across LinkedIn, Facebook, and X. When you see these posts, please share or repost them to help amplify our message across the internet. Starting this December, we will also be launching a letter-writing campaign. You’ll be able to enter your ZIP code, and a form letter will populate that you can customize to reflect your facility or agency. Legislators are seeing these messages, and this step will help increase our impact. We will have a targeted outreach campaign for the 15 key legislators who influence Medicaid decisions, as well as the Governor’s office. With your help, we truly can make a difference.

Medicaid has also scheduled listening sessions. Although these were intended for feedback on managed care, almost all the comments have focused on the 4% cut instead. As an association, and with support from your families, facilities, and staff, we ask that you continue to watch for our messages, share them, and participate in the letter-writing campaign.

We need to send a clear, unified message.

Thank you for your support. Together, we can make a difference!

Robert Vande Merwe, Executive Director of the Idaho Health Care Association, makes a powerful case in his latest op-ed for the Idaho Statesman: Idaho simply can’t afford further 4% cuts to Medicaid reimbursement, especially when seniors’ care is on the line. Read the full article here: Idaho can’t afford more cuts to Medicaid now for seniors: https://www.idahostatesman.com/opinion/readers-opinion/article312590110.html

Here’s how you can help:
➡️ Take a few minutes to contact your state legislator.
➡️ Let them know you oppose these cuts and you expect senior care to be protected.
➡️ Share the article with family, friends, and neighbors. Make sure the voices of Idaho’s seniors are heard.

Together, we can make a difference for our seniors and the care they deserve. To learn more or for questions concerning the Medicaid cuts, contact the IHCA team at idhca.org

Medicaid is the primary source of coverage for long-term care nationwide, and Idaho is no exception. | Opinion

10/27/2025

Robert Vande Merwe, Executive Director, of the Idaho Health Care Association wants to thank you for your continued support and interest in opposing the 4% Medicaid cuts recently implemented by the Governor and the State of Idaho. These cuts make it extremely difficult for care facilities to maintain high-quality services without reducing essential care. In the past, Medicaid residents received care comparable to that of private-pay residents, but that’s no longer sustainable under these reductions. For those of us thinking ahead to retirement, this is a serious concern. We all need to consider not just retirement savings, but also future health care costs, because quality care under Medicaid may become increasingly hard to find if funding continues to shrink. We need your help to convince legislators to protect Medicaid funding and oppose further cuts that directly impact the care of your loved ones. As costs rise and resources shrink, finding quality care, especially once personal funds are exhausted, will become an even greater challenge. Please spread the word. Contact your legislators, talk to family and friends, and make your voices heard. Let them know that cutting Medicaid is not acceptable. Our seniors deserve better. Together, we can make a difference.

To learn more or if you have questions about the Medicaid cuts, and how to make your voice heard, please reach out to the IHCA team at idhca.org
