I am committed to helping you live more consciously by fully integrating mind, body, and spirit. Research is now validating the ancient wisdom that our body and emotions and thoughts are all closely intertwined. Using hypnotherapy, I can guide you in the release of emotions associated with the issue you want to change. This allows healing of old wounds and new beliefs can take root. I teach several evidence based techniques for stress reduction and emotional regulation. Many people are disconnected from their body and the messages it is sending them. Learning to tune in and work with the breath and body sensations can bring increased energy and ease, as well as improving intuition and higher cognitive functioning.

Humming, chanting and singing are all exercises that increase heart rate variability (HRV).
Higher HRV is linked with reduced morbidity and mortality and improved psychological well-being and quality of life. Laughter is a natural immune booster which, like singing can increase HRV in a group setting. Gargling with water stimulates the muscles of the pallet and has been shown to improve working momory performance.

Dr. Levine was inspired to study stress on the animal nervous system when he realized that animals are constantly under threat of death, yet show no symptoms of trauma. What he discovered was that trauma has to do with the third survival response to perceived life threat, which is freeze. When fight and flight are not options, we freeze and immobilize, like "playing dead." This makes us less of a target. However, this reaction is time-sensitive, in other words, it needs to run its course, and the massive energy that was prepared for fight or flight gets discharged, through shakes and trembling. If the immobility phase doesn't complete, then that charge stays trapped, and, from the body's perspective, it is still under threat. The Somatic Experiencingยฎ method works to release this stored energy, and turn off this threat alarm that causes severe ๐’…๐’š๐’”๐’“๐’†๐’ˆ๐’–๐’๐’‚๐’•๐’Š๐’๐’ and ๐’…๐’Š๐’”๐’”๐’๐’„๐’Š๐’‚๐’•๐’Š๐’๐’.

There are lots of reasons why care tasks may be difficult for a person: mental health, chronic illness, neuro-divergence, problems with executive functioning, seasons of life such as grief, postpartum, or small children, lack of family supports, being the caretaker of an ill or special needs child, trauma, or lack of childhood modeling. Perhaps most paralyzing is the shame felt when one is unable to complete care tasks. Internal messages of laziness and failure compound the feelings of overwhelm and make care tasks seem even more insurmountable.
Struggle care is about learning how to accomplish care tasksโ€”and being kind to yourselfโ€”when you have functional barriers.

When you're burned out, taking care of yourself (or your family) can feel nearly impossible. Therapist KC Davis gets it, and she's got a message for anyone s...
