We know that Adverse Childhood Experiences can have long term impacts on mental and physical health, but check out this exciting new research from BYU.

Researchers focused on ways that caregivers can use "Counter-ACES" to help their children adjust after trauma. Things such as safety at home, predictable routines, and positive social supports can be great ways to help your kiddos thrive!

Basic summary of concepts of Adverse Childhood Experiences v. Positive Childhood Experiences; see the Psychology Today article below this post to read the actual research study:

“Reaching out for a bit more information does not necessarily mean your child is embarking on long-term mental health treatment, though there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that if they do. Unfortunately, sometimes the stigma that still shrouds mental health issues can prevent parents from reaching out.”

If you’re having trouble deciding whether your child would benefit from therapy, reach out and give us a call. We’re always happy to answer any questions you might have!

Our Story

Kailee and Jackie have known each other for years, and have always talked about their dream of opening a private practice dedicated to children’s mental health. Play Therapy House is the embodiment of that vision and they are thrilled to share it with the Treasure Valley.

The mission of Play Therapy House is to support the emotional and behavioral development of children through individual play therapy, counseling, and parent education. The organization strives to empower children and their caregivers to improve healthy communication, build emotional resilience, and explore emotions through the natural language of play.

Take time to look around, visit the website, and drop a line with any questions or comments. Oh, and don’t forget to make time to play!
