APRIL IS SLEEP AWARENESS MONTH - Sleep affects Stress and Vice-versa.
😴 Stress & Sleep: A Cycle You Can Break
Stress and sleep are closely connected—and when one suffers, the other follows.

😣 How stress affects sleep:
• Keeps your mind racing at night
• Raises cortisol levels (your stress hormone)
• Leads to poor, restless, or interrupted sleep

😴 How poor sleep affects stress:
• Lowers your ability to handle daily challenges
• Increases irritability and anxiety
• Impacts focus, energy, and overall well-being

😴 It becomes a cycle: more stress → worse sleep → even more stress.
That’s where expert care matters.

🛌 At Everything Sleep Idaho, our sleep physicians help identify the root cause—whether it’s sleep apnea, insomnia, or another sleep disorder—and create a personalized plan to help you rest better and feel better.

👉 Better sleep isn’t just about rest—it’s about reclaiming your health and your peace of mind.

🤰💤 How Pregnancy Impacts Sleep — And the Onset of Gestational OSA

🤰 Pregnancy changes everything — including your sleep.
As your body works overtime to support your growing baby, hormonal shifts, weight changes, nasal congestion, and increased pressure on the diaphragm can all disrupt normal breathing patterns during sleep. For some women, this can lead to Gestational Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA).

⚠️ Signs to watch for:
☑️ Loud snoring (new or worsening)
☑️ Gasping or choking during sleep
☑️ Excessive daytime fatigue
☑️ Morning headaches
☑️ High blood pressure during pregnancy
☑️ Untreated sleep apnea during pregnancy may increase risks such as gestational hypertension, preeclampsia, and gestational diabetes. The good news? It’s treatable — and early intervention makes a difference for both mom and baby.

👨‍⚕️ At Everything Sleep Idaho, we help expectant mothers get the answers they need through professional sleep evaluations and personalized care plans.

💙 Because better sleep supports a healthier pregnancy.

WHY CHOOSE HOME SLEEP STUDY?
A home sleep study (Home Sleep Apnea Test — HSAT) is a convenient way to evaluate suspected sleep apnea outside a sleep lab. While it works very well for many patients, it also has limitations.

PROS:
✔️ Convenience & Comfort: You sleep in your own bed, which often leads to more natural sleep compared to a lab environment.
✔️ Lower Cost: Home studies are typically less expensive than in-lab polysomnography and often covered by insurance for suspected obstructive sleep apnea.
✔️ Faster Access to Testing: There is usually little or no waiting period, allowing quicker diagnosis and treatment.
✔️ Simpler Setup: Most home tests involve fewer sensors, making them easier for patients to use independently.
✔️ Good Screening Tool for Sleep Apnea: For patients with a high likelihood of obstructive sleep apnea, home studies are often very effective.

CONS:
❌ Not Ideal for Complex Sleep Disorders: Conditions like narcolepsy, periodic limb movement disorder, central sleep apnea, or parasomnias usually require an in-lab study.
❌ May Miss Mild or Atypical Cases: If results are inconclusive or symptoms persist, an in-lab study may still be necessary.
❌ Less Comprehensive Data: Home studies typically measure breathing, oxygen levels, and airflow — but usually don’t capture brain waves, sleep stages, or complex neurological activity.
❌ Limited Clinical Observation: There’s no technologist present to adjust equipment or observe sleep behavior.
