Licensing is everything.
To become a licensed massage therapist in Idaho, we complete a minimum of 500 hours of education. We pass a national board exam. We train in contraindications - meaning we know when to pause, ask questions, and proceed with care.
And a chunk of those hours are dedicated to ethics. How to hold space for you. How to make your session safe, professional, and effective.
That’s not standard everywhere.
In Idaho, someone can call themselves a “bodyworker” and get away with working on the public without any of that. No required training. No exam. No accountability. No professional liability insurance.
