Staying educated in current issues and doing our own work regarding racism is important but doom scrolling isn’t the only way to stay informed.

Taking social media breaks and limiting media of all forms when you notice depressive cycles can help your mental health. Setting time limits for perusing the news and social media is a good start. Yes, this is a privilege, but can be crucial for those with mental health struggles.

When things get too big and overwhelming and you start to only see doom, bring your vision in—what’s going on in your community, what are your neighbors up to? How can you help brighten someone’s day or contribute to your community?
