Even though this author advocates using fluoride, the rest of this information is as good as gold.
Bleeding gums are not normal, brushing too hard can be detrimental, and flossing or using an interdental brush daily is essential for gum health. You can’t have healthy teeth without healthy gums.

Even if you’re diligent about caring for your teeth, you might be overlooking your gums.
