Citizens Memorial Hospital is excited to announce that it has earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group for Spring 2024.

Leapfrog assigns grades ranging from "A" to "F" to general hospitals across the country. These grades are determined based on over 30 measures of errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.

"Achieving the Leapfrog ‘A’ Safety Grade is a proud moment for CMH. It’s a validation of our team’s relentless efforts to ensure every patient receives the safest, highest quality care possible,” said Michael Calhoun, CEO/executive director of CMH/CMH Foundation.

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is the only hospital ratings program focused exclusively on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries. The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring. It's National Healthcare Decisions Day (April 16). In crises, it is difficult for families to make healthcare decisions. We encourage you to talk with your family in a non-crisis time about your healthcare wishes.

Are you ready for the Solar Eclipse? Bolivar will experience a partial eclipse around 1:55 p.m. https://bit.ly/43Mra33

Protect your eyes! Never stare directly at the sun, even for a partial eclipse! According to the American Academy of Ophthalmology, you must wear SPECIAL EYE PROTECTION (sunglasses are NOT enough) to directly observe the sun, during a partial eclipse or any other time.

Looking at the sun without the right eye protection can permanently damage your retina. The only way to safely view the eclipse is with special solar filters (eclipse glasses) or hand-held solar viewers. Make sure your eclipse glasses are certified and say ISO 12312-2.

Don't have eclipse glasses? NASA will livestream the solar eclipse. Go to https://bit.ly/3TS9xdm to watch the broadcast starting at 12 p.m. CST.
