Heat pumps are bringing cleaner comfort to NYC residents. The New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) converted a five-story apartment building from an oil-based heating system that previously operated on a set schedule to window-unit electric heat pumps.

A new three-year study surveyed residents before and after installation. The results showed residents reported the same or improved comfort year-round, highlighting the value of the ability to control the temperature in individual rooms.
