CMH EMS Education is accepting applications through Friday, Dec. 12, for the Spring 2025 EMS Academy. Classes meet from 6 to 10 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from Jan. 5-May 9, 2026. This class will equip you with the education needed to become an entry-level Emergency Medical Technician.

Welcome Racheal Smith, M.D., as the new medical director of emergency services.

Dr. Smith oversees clinical direction and administrative leadership for the emergency department, emergency medical services and stroke services.

She brings a decade of experience in emergency medicine to the role. She most recently practiced at Cox Medical Center in Branson and Mercy Hospital in Springfield, caring for patients in high-volume emergency departments across southwest Missouri.

Citizens Memorial Hospital is pleased to announce that Staci Rogers, M.D., will join CMH as our next chief medical officer on Jan. 5, 2026.

Dr. Rogers brings more than 21 years of experience, including 11 years in leadership at CoxHealth in Springfield. She will help guide clinical strategy, support physician engagement and continue CMH’s work to expand access to care in our rural communities.

She will replace Ron Evans, M.D., who will retire in January 2026 after serving eight years as chief medical officer and 33 years at Bolivar Family Care Center as a family practice physician.

Welcome David J. Lemons, D.O., FSCAI, to CMH Heart Institute Clinic.

Dr. Lemons specializes in the evaluation and treatment of adult patients through advanced interventional cardiology procedures, including diagnostic angiography, coronary angioplasty and stenting, cardiac monitoring and interpretation, transesophageal echocardiography, pericardiocentesis, Impella support, shockwave intravascular lithotripsy, coronary and rotational atherectomy, intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP) therapy, pacemaker and defibrillator implantation (including leadless devices), pulmonary thrombectomy, implantable loop recorders and nuclear cardiology.

Dr. Lemons brings nearly 10 years of experience in cardiology, having practiced at Hannibal Regional Medical Group in Hannibal and most recently at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center in Palmer, Alaska. He joins a team of experienced cardiologists at the CMH Heart Institute Clinic in Bolivar, including John F. Best, M.D., FACP, FACC, FSCAI; Dishang Bhavsar, M.D., FACC, FSCAI; and Haris Riaz, M.D., FACC, FSCAI.

Congratulations to Jenna Hicks, R.N., MBA, director of quality and population health at Citizens Memorial Hospital, for receiving the Missouri Hospital Association’s Visionary Leadership Award.

The award recognizes hospital leaders who take innovative approaches to improving health in Missouri. Jenna was honored for her leadership in developing CMH’s Mobile Integrated Health program, which connects patients with care and community resources in their homes.

Her work is transforming how CMH serves the region by improving access, closing gaps in care and supporting whole-person health. We are proud to celebrate Jenna’s vision, leadership and dedication to the communities we serve.
