I’m deeply saddened to share that a colleague I knew, Kathy Bricker, passed away unexpectedly.

Kathy was an extraordinary audiologist and a certified Listening and Spoken Language Specialist Auditory-Verbal Therapist, as well as the founder of Hear-Ability, Inc. in Florida. Her life’s work was devoted to helping children who are deaf or hard of hearing learn to listen and speak, and to guiding families with compassion, expertise, and unwavering belief in their children’s potential.

Kathy's impact reached far beyond her own practice. She played a significant role in advancing awareness of listening and spoken language outcomes throughout her career.

Kathy was warm, generous, and deeply committed to others. She touched so many lives, and her legacy will live on in the countless children and families she supported, as well as in the professionals she inspired.

My heart goes out to her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and working with her. May her memory be a blessing.

I wish every state would follow Mississippi’s lead on teaching structured literacy. It makes a HUGE difference in learning to read. Please share with your state officials.

Grateful for the opportunity to present at Mosaic Kids today!

A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Rizzo and the incredible team at Child Provider Specialists for sharing their expertise.

It was wonderful being together with the Mosaic Kids professionals made up of SLPs, OTs, teachers, music therapists, and ABA therapists.

Thank you to both Mosaic Kids and Child Provider Specialists for being such wonderful partners in supporting children and their families in our SWFL community and throughout the state.
