Animal Emergency Clinic of the High Country

Animal Emergency Clinic of the High Country 24/7 Emergency Veterinary Clinic Serving the High Country of North Carolina
(218)

The Animal Emergency Clinic of the High Country, PLLC was established by Dr. David Linzey and his wife, Debi, in 2005. Our goal has remained the same: providing quality after-hours emergency veterinary care to the residents of the North Carolina High Country and surrounding areas. Until that time, local veterinarians participated in a rotational schedule where different doctors were on-call various different nights and weekends. The opening of our practice provided a service to area pet owners not previously available: highly-trained and skilled veterinarians and technicians whose sole responsibility and focus is to provide emergency care for sick and injured pets until their regular veterinarian can take over care at the appropriate time.

Cue the confetti and the chorus of joyful barks and meows! 🎉🐾

After 19 remarkable years of leadership, late-night heroics, and endless heart, our beloved Hospital Manager, Mandi, officially retired from the Animal Emergency Clinic of the High Country last month!

Mandi has been the steady heartbeat of our clinic, calming both pets and people during their scariest moments. She has trained teams, comforted families, advocated for every creature who crossed our threshold, and helped build the standard of care that defines us today. Mandi’s legacy lives in the countless lives she touched.

Retirement looks good on you, Mandi. We picture quieter evenings, more fresh mountain air, and perhaps a dog or two insisting you still check their vitals.

Thank you for every shift, every emergency, every victory, and every tear.
You gave this place your heart. We will forever be better because of you. ❤️

Please join us in celebrating Mandi’s extraordinary career and wishing her the happiest new chapter yet! ✨🐶🐱🌄

🎃🐾 Halloween Pet Safety Tips from Animal Emergency Clinic of the High Country 👻✨

Spooky season brings costumes, candy, and creepy-cute chaos. Keep your four-legged sidekicks safe with a little Halloween magic:

🕸️ Hide the Treats
Chocolate and sugar-free goodies (especially those with xylitol) turn trick-or-treat into a scary night for pets. Store candy high and tight.

🍬 No Mystery Snacks
Curious noses love wrappers. Foil and plastic can cause tummy trouble worthy of a horror movie. Trash those wrappers quickly. Also watch out for those glow sticks. They look like toys. They taste like regret. Keep glow necklaces and light sticks away from playful chompers.

🧛 Costumes: Comfort First
Fluffy might look fang-tastic in a cape, yet costumes should never restrict breathing, movement, or vision. Try a test run before the big night.

🚪 Door Patrol
Trick-or-treaters mean constant doorbell dings. Pets can bolt into the night faster than a ghostly swoop. Secure them in a cozy room with toys or calming music. Make sure that your pet has a collar with tags or an updated microchip keeps reunions quick if spooky chaos leads to an accidental escape.

🦇 Beware of Decorations
Fake webs, candles, and dangling décor invite pounces and problems. Choose pet-friendly setups that won’t cause burns or tangles.

If you suspect your pet has eaten something toxic, please call ASPCA Animal Poison Control before heading into our clinic.
