Fall is a season of abundance, of harvest, and it’s also a season of shedding.
If we let nature be our teacher, then fall is a season of letting go of our attachments, shedding previous ways of being in the world that are no longer sustain us, shedding old ideas about ourself, shedding past hurt, shedding expectations we have about the way we think things should be, or anything we are holding on to that is the cause of our suffering, and keeps us from experience a sense of freedom.
Because fall is also the season of ‘Vatta’ or the air element in Ayurveda, we can feel untethered, like the leaves of a tree. But too often we identify with the leaves, when really we are the tree.
Our practice, both on and off the mat, helps bring us back in balance by grounding us in the present. It’s a good time to eat foods that ground us, nurture relationships that ground us, that tether us as a community, and anchor us to our source.
Join me tonight at 5:30pm (virtually or in person) in the practice of Aparigraha, or non-attachment.
