Save the date - the 4th Annual Miracle Hope 5K is on May 9th! Register to run or walk now: https://runsignup.com/Race/VA/RockyMount/MiracleHope5K

This annual event is in memory of Miracle Hope, with proceeds going to support our programming. Miracle was a true warrior! When she was born she was diagnosed with microcephaly cerebral palsy and later in life epilepsy. In her short life she and her family faced many battles. Miracle enjoyed riding at Healing Strides, and she lit up the barn in every session with her smiles. Through your participation and contributions, we honor Miracle's courageous life and celebrate her birthday!

Please join us in wishing a very happy retirement to Eclipse!

Eclipse has been at Healing Strides for 17 years, generously shared with us by Gloria Williams. Over the years, she has worked across nearly all of our programs, teaching people of all ages and levels the ins and outs of horsemanship. Sassy, sweet, and incredibly talented, Eclipse has a personality that makes it easy to fall in love with her and also challenges you to bring your best effort to each lesson. We’re excited for her to enjoy a relaxing and spoiled retirement!

If you have any stories or photos of Eclipse, we would love it you want to share them in the comments!

We hope everyone is staying warm and safe during this winter storm!

Our staff and volunteers were amazing last week and prepped all the things our herd could need to be comfortable. We put out more hay than they could ever eat (well…some will try🤣), blankets for everyone and double layers for those that need it, extra water with heaters to encourage them to stay hydrated, and lots of different shelter options.

For anyone who’s able, we’re thinking we’ll have staff start the clean-up process around mid-day tomorrow if you can lend us a hand! Shoot our volunteer coordinator Anna a text at (540) 612-1827 with any specific questions.

Our sweet Jersey is heading out to join the Virginia Tech research herd! She will be helping Hokies learn all about horsemanship and veterinary care at Tech’s amazing facility in Blacksburg. Jersey has been a part of our horsemanship programs for several years and has been a great partner for many students.

For those that don't know, Jersey has some medical challenges that our veterinary care providers have been diligent in helping us manage over the last 5 years. As her health needs have evolved, we have had to make the difficult choice in what is best for her and we're excited for her to start a new chapter with even more support!

As usual with all our equine partners, we will keep close tabs on her and how she is doing in her new home. We strive to always make sure the horses who we have had the privilege of knowing and caring for are always in secure hands when they leave our direct care. We know this can be a hard time for those who love our equine friends like we do, so we encourage you to swing by to give her some extra love and please share below any special stories or photos you may have of our "Jersey Girl"!
