San Mar Treatment Foster Care

San Mar Treatment Foster Care There are children who cannot remain with their families because of severe abuse and neglect. When children and families have difficulties, help must be given.
(1)

San Mar TFC is seeking families who can provide a safe and nurturing home where these children may begin to heal from their past traumas. Only after every effort is made to work out the problems, and it is determined the child’s welfare is in jeopardy if he or she continues to live with the family, should a separation be made. At the time of separation we believe that each child must have his or her total needs met. Because of the traumatic experiences separation involves, professional help is needed to allow a healthy processing of personal feelings and fears. We believe that most healthy families, with strong training and ongoing support, are capable of learning how to provide a therapeutic (healing) environment for a child in need.

“ It has been such a privilege to be Malachi's mom and to call him our son.His smile lights up every room he is in and his laugh is contagious. He is an amazing, strong, silly, smart, and brave little boy, who I know will do incredible things in his life. Adoption isn't perfect, it is beautiful and messy, but I cannot imagine a life without Malachi." – The Walburg Family 💕

Adoption changes lives — not just for the child, but for the whole family.

San Mar, Treatment Foster Care has been on operation since 1992. Since then, we have been proud to license well qualified families and provide them on-going training to build and refine their skills.

Our families are offered a robust training calendar each and every year to ensure they receive their 24 annual hours of training, and do not have to find trainings themselves. We also offer in-house support groups and activities for our families.

At San Mar, it’s more than just a bunch of licensed families with kids - it’s one big family.

This photo highlights the support our new families receive from the other foster families when accepting a new placement they weren’t originally set up for. A simple text message lead to car seats and loads of other supplies and equipment being loaded into our agency vehicle for a family taking in a sibling group.

Our new family was speechless at the support her new found family members were providing.

Hispanic Heritage month is an annual celebration in the United States that runs from September 15th to October 15th. This month-long observance honors the culture, achievements, and contributions of Hispanic and Latinx Americans. It also recognizes the profound influence of Hispanic culture on the nation's history, traditions, and ongoing story shaping everything from art and music to education, food, and community values.

For San Mar, it is important to highlight the contributions of Hispanic and Latinx Americans to youth in foster care. Their work to keep language, culture and connection alive is unmatched and we are grateful for their dedication!
