Sandra Jane Halford, age 77, passed away peacefully at her home in Ashland, Missouri, on December 18, 2025, after a courageous journey with pulmonary fibrosis.

Born with a bold spirit and a generous heart, Sandy lived a life rooted in faith, love, and devotion to her family. She faced life’s challenges with courage and determination, guided by her steadfast trust in the Lord. Her strength, passion, and unwavering commitment to those she loved were evident to all who knew her.
Sandra, lovingly known as Sandy, was raised in Wisconsin and later Illinois. She attended middle and high school in Anna, Illinois, and graduated from Carrollton High School in Carrollton in 1966. She treasured the lifelong friendships she formed in Anna, often enjoying regular get-togethers with her school friends, which brought her great joy throughout her life.

Feeling called to care for others, she pursued her education at the School of Nursing at Passavant Memorial Area Hospital in Jacksonville, Illinois, graduating with the Class of 1969. Sandy dedicated her career to nursing, serving with compassion and skill in communities including Columbia, Jefferson City, and Saint Joseph, Missouri.

On July 10, 1971, Sandy was united in marriage to Thomas Joseph Halford at the First Baptist Church in Carrollton, Illinois. Their marriage was built on faith, love, and commitment, and together they shared a life centered on family and service.

Sandy is survived by her devoted husband, Thomas, and their three children and spouses: Megan Halford (Bradley Bauer), Michael Halford (Ashley), and Matthew Halford (Jana). Russell (Rusty) Gene Scott Sr., age 64, passed away on December 16, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones after a long, hard fight.

Rusty was born on March 14, 1961, in Sedalia, Missouri, to Gene Eldon Scott and Geraldine Shirley Scott. He was their baby boy—and he never let anyone forget it.

He grew up in Pleasant Green, which he talked about often. He was a devoted dad, a proud papa, and a truly good man with the biggest heart. Rusty loved deeply and fiercely. He found comfort in the simple things: tinkering in the garage, cars, cooking, black coffee, music, and sitting on the porch. Those were his happy places.

Rusty took great pride in his work and the life he built. He owned and operated Scott’s Taxi Service, a job that gave him endless stories, memories, and connections with people he never forgot. He later worked at the bakery and went on to successfully run Eman’s Motor Company and Sunny Acres Trailer Court for many years before settling down.

Nothing in this world brought him more joy than his children and his grandchildren. He talked to each of his kids multiple times everyday, cherishing every moment. He loved watching grandkids grow and being their papa, and that love will live on in them forever.

Rusty leaves behind the love of his life, Tena Terrell; his children, Derek (Laci) Scott, Russell (Danielle) Scott, and Daisy Scott (Chris); and his eight grandchildren—Bryton, Porter, Baya, Brixton, Ellei, Paislei, Makenna, and his namesake, Rusty—all of Boonville. He is also survived by his brothers, Robert (Laura) Scott, Larry Brown, Johnny (Barb) Thomas, and his sister Sandy (Rick) Friedrich, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and a slew of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Geraldine Scott; his brothers, Jimmy Scott and Gary Brown; and his sister, Donna Lorenz.

In true Rusty fashion, there will be no funeral. He always said, “If they can’t come see me while I’m alive, I don’t want them to come see me when I’m gone.” Memorials are suggested to the family for assistance with end of life expenses.

He was deeply loved, and he will be missed every single day.
Arrangements are under the direction of Howard-Millard Funeral Home, 1397 Ashley Rd., Boonville, Mo 65233 (660) 882-3381. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.howardfh.com.

Carmen Ann (Patterson) Kennedy of Boonville, Missouri, passed away peacefully on November 28th, 2025, at the age of 72.

Mother, Grammie, curator of beauty, collector of books, autumn enthusiast, homemade bread baker, fisher woman, and educator. In her lifetime, Carmen was passionate about making everything around her beautiful. Her home, Carmen's Cottage, was her happy place that she filled with her favorite books, paintings, and flowers, complemented by the sound of her pet songbirds. She was an avid reader and loved to share books with others; many hands browsed her Little Free Library she kept lovingly overflowing with books for all ages. Carmen was a renowned seamstress who loved to decorate. She worked at Ricmar Decorating in Boonville for 31 years, creating one-of-a-kind bedding and custom window treatments for homes across the Midwest, including the Governor's Mansion. Carmen received her Bachelor of Science Degree in May 1977 from the School of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, MO.

In true Carmen fashion, we share her words here:

I am a woman who hands out book prescriptions to others to ease their pain.

I am a woman who taught hundreds of children how to read and love books.

I am a woman who asks why someone does what they do to understand them and find the seeds of compassion.

I am a woman who for years, spent every Saturday and Sunday walking roofs and building homes for the families of Habitat For Humanity.

I am a woman whose hands have soothed babies, baked breads and pies and made fabric confections fit for Kings and Queens.

I am a woman whose hands stripped, sanded, painted, papered, tiled and made period window treatments for two historic homes.

I am a woman who has read many thousands of books and who loves nothing better than to sink into the world of a good story.

I am a woman who did the best that I could with the knowledge and resources I had and when I learned better, I did better.
I am a woman that butterflies follow.

I am a woman who draws peace and energy from moon glow, sunsets, wind, fire, ocean waves, and ferny woods.
