Do it scared.
Many times we stop ourselves from getting out there and doing things.
What happens before doing the scary or anxiety provoking act?
Is it self-doubt? Does the body sensations take over?
Instead of the thoughts of…
-This is gonna be awful
-I can’t do this
-What if it goes wrong
What about changing it to…
-This could be a great opportunity
-What if this goes well
-This is a good challenge for me
This is also a great moment to implement a supportive skill or resource to assist us. Phone a friend, tapping, progressive muscle relaxation, breath work, and then GO.
There are so many opportunities that we miss when the fear gets in the way of healthy actions. Of course this is not talking about those situations that are dangerous or unnecessary. This is about those situations that could lead to healthy enjoyment, amazing opportunities, and authentic joy.
🤨When was the last time you went outside of your comfort zone?
I’ll go- I went rock climbing and got to the top, five times! I have let fear get in my way multiple times and struggled to get to the top, even though I knew I could do it. I gave myself that pep talk, had a great support nearby, and allowed myself to ride the wave.
Do it scared.
Take those deep breaths and ride the wave.
