Excited to be apart of an incredible initiative for the month of October, the Fitness Department at the is running a special challenge called “Push for Pink” in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month 🎀

It’s our Pumpkin Push-Up Challenge — here’s how it works:
• Stop by the Fitness Center and complete as many strict push-ups as you can (it can be 1 or 100 — every rep counts!).
• A fitness attendant will observe your form and count your reps.
• After completing the challenge, sign your name in pink marker on one of the two white pumpkins at the Fitness Desk — each pumpkin features a pink ribbon 🎀 .

Top contestant push-ups will be tallied together as a community total. For every push-up completed, the Worcester JCC will donate $1 to a cancer charity in support of breast cancer awareness and research. For marketing a picture will be taken of the person who participated holding the pumpkin(s) and tagged on social media for a raffle prize!

A leaderboard on the Member Engagement Board will highlight the top push-up participants throughout the month.

Let’s have some fun, support a great cause, and Push for Pink! 💪🎃💖

Beef stroganoff from scratch 🍽️.

Steak tips or ground beef (seared in a pan until browned). Remove from stove and set aside to make sauce.

Using same pan you cooked the beef melt half stick of butter.
Add half of yellow onion (finely chopped) and minced garlic. Sautéed until translucent.

Add mushrooms (I did 8 ounces but if you want more protein do 12oz). Sauté until mushrooms start to brown.

In a separate pot boil water for pasta. Use a high protein pasta if it’s what your macros require.

Back to the pan of mushrooms onion garlic - add in 4 tbsp of flour to thicken the sauce. Then add in the beef broth. I used a whole container but recipe called for 1 cup. I used 4 cups so there was enough sauce to go around. Stir on medium heat try to avoid bringing to a boil. Add salt pepper to taste.

Add back in the beef to the sauce and simmer. Slowly add sour cream to the sauce to get a more “creamy” texture.

Once pasta is cooked in boiling water drain and serve. Scoop the sauce and pour over the pasta. ENJOY!

Fishing takes more than just sitting in a boat and casting a reel. It takes lifting a canoe or kayak over your head into a truck. Loading and unloading into the water. Having the upper body strength to paddle your way around the body of water. Balanced so your floating device doesn’t flip. And a whole lot more. If you have a bad back, bad wrists, aches and pains from getting older or a sedentary lifestyle you will find as time passes you will loose the ability to do things you love, with people you love! When I train it’s to maintain this kind of joy and peace I give myself. It’s about quality of life not just quantity for how long you live. What’s your why?
