As Mental Health Awareness month draws to a close, we are grateful to be included in Ganes Kesari’s article (linked below). We hope through our work, mental health awareness and understanding becomes a health habit all year round. Check out what our CEO, David Liu, covers in this piece

Mental health is one of the biggest challenges in the world. Today, AI has revolutionary capabilities to detect, manage, and help treat mental illnesses using just a patient’s voice.

“Don’t give up. Because that’s where the hope is” In the midst of Mental Health Awareness Month, Stacey Gildner, shares her decades long struggle, and reminds people that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. With proper help, treatment, and guidance, things do get better

HILLMAN — Stacey Gildner’s friends are surprised when she tells them she hears voices in her head. “You pass hundreds of people on the street every day who have mental illness,” said Gildner, a Hillman woman who has battled multiple forms of serious mental illness since she was a teenager. ....

Our latest multi-site clinical trial including Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, is testing whether our app is able to accurately detect symptoms of COVID-19, using PCR tests and clinician diagnoses as reference for comparison. If successful, this could be groundbreaking in identifying cases... “did you ever think there would be an app for that?”

In the Bronx, we hope app-based tools for asthma, COVID-19, and other respiratory conditions can reduce unnecessary hospitalizations.

"We are very good at finding signals that tell us that the symptoms of a particular disease are there. We detect these symptoms and give the user actionable data.” Our CEO, David Liu, explained to South China Morning Post, that when an individual is sick the physiology of their body changes, impeding on muscles in mouth and throat and therefore, changing one's vocal features. This is not only prevalent with respiratory illness, but mental illness can and does have the same effect. Our app does well at detecting these changes (not necessarily audible to the naked ear), with a simple 'ahhh'

If you have the flu, Covid-19 or asthma they will ‘have an impact on the sound of your voice’, says Sonde Health’s David Liu. Its app detects symptoms of respiratory illness just by listening to you.

Voice based analytic software is becoming more widely accepted with companies like our own, Vocalis Health, and Aural Analytics, honing in on the possibility of vocal biomarkers being used for detecting symptoms of respiratory illnesses from the comfort of one's home. While proven challenging, the convenience of remote symptom monitoring is revolutionary and putting companies like these on the map.

The vocal biomarker community is getting louder.

While working from home throughout the pandemic has offered flexibility that many never experienced before such as avoiding long commutes, more family time, as well as option to work from virtually anywhere; “It’s nearly impossible to cultivate relationships over Zoom, Slack or Microsoft Teams”. Even so, 2 in 5 workers will still be working from home by the end of 2021 as opposed to the 7% of individuals who had flexible workplace benefit prior to COVID-19. Here are the ups and downs of the hybrid model that might be here to stay.

As companies increasingly adopt extended work-from-home policies, it could be years before recent graduates step foot in an office building.

"We know we have effective vaccines, but we still don't know for how long. We still don't know how effective they are against the variants. We still don't have vaccines for children...There is still a lot to figure out." With nearly 25% of workers in 10 big cities going back to offices, anxiety of the unknown is on the rise, as well as the understanding that even once the pandemic ends there will be lasting effects.

From anxiety over catching the coronavirus to fears of losing flexibility gained while working from home, many workers do not want to go back to their pre-pandemic ways.

After seeing a decline in COVID cases for three weeks straight, there has been a sudden increase in fatalities in over half of the US states and in multiple other countries worldwide. This increase could be attributed to variants and loosening of restrictions; however, prove just how imperative screening tools like SONDE are in early detection of respiratory symptoms

Also, new global infections recently began climbing again under pressure from more transmissible variants and the relaxation of restrictions.

"Children also may lack the vocabulary of mental illness to voice their need for help and to make a connection between their difficulties and the pandemic." With the alarming increase of young children experiencing mental illness and attempting self harm, it is important that we are educated on such topics so we can better understand and identify exactly what our loved ones are feeling.

PARIS (AP) — By the time his parents rushed him to the hospital, 11-year-old Pablo was barely eating and had stopped drinking entirely. Weakened by months of self-privation, his heart had slowed...

“There is only so long you can run a marathon without your body giving way, and especially with a constantly-shifting finish line, like we have during the pandemic.”

A year into the pandemic, experts explain the main mental health issues at hand, and give some insight on how to navigate this tough time. Now more than ever it is important to recognize what we're feeling and take steps toward working through it.

The emotional impact of the coronavirus cannot be understated. Here are the main problems experts are worried about.

What a fun and successful inaugural Sonde Health HACKATHON! Last Friday, the entire company took part in a day-long event to hack mental health. On Monday, all 13 teams demo’d their hard-work and voted on their favorite projects. So who won, you ask? About

Sonde’s mission is to unlock voice as a vital sign and meaningful predictor of health. We have developed a voice-based technology platform with the potential to transform the way we screen and monitor health conditions.

Participants are needed for a study that explores how people’s thoughts and emotions affect the way people speak.

The study takes place online and using a mobile smartphone. Parts of the study include downloading an application (app), doing activities on the app, filling out some questionnaires, and speaking into the phone.

Your performance in all study-related activities will be kept completely confidential.
