The sympathetic nervous system (SNS) triggers the "fight-or-flight" response, increasing heart rate, blood pressure and breathing. In short bursts, this can be beneficial but prolonged activation harms heart health. In contrast, the parasympathetic nervous system (PNS) slows heart rate, lowers blood pressure and promotes slower breathing which reduces stress and inflammation.
A healthy balance between SNS and PNS is important for maintaining good heart health. Utilize MindMics to be self-aware of your physiological state and keep you balanced.
