• Creating verbal routines (“ready, set… GO!”)
• Modeling gestures + fun exclamations (clapping, “yayyyy”
• Using repetitive language and repeating the cycle!
• Staying animated, engaged, and following their lead

Navigating the IEP process for your child can be overwhelming. I totally understand!

I’ve witnessed numerous IEP meetings where caregivers felt overwhelmed by unfamiliar terminology and complex discussions.

I hope this post provides some helpful information for parents and caregivers who are navigating the IEP process within the school system💪🏼

📱October is AAC Awareness Month! 💚🤍🩷

Do you know what AAC stands for?

AAC stands for Augmentative and Alternative Communication. It is a group of tools and strategies that an individual can use to supplement speech as a form of communication.

Rather than using spoken language, an AAC user will be matched with a system that works best for them! AAC can be in the form of writing, sign language/gestures, and/or a speech generating device (SGD.) Each AAC system is unique to the individual user, benefiting their connection with others through communication that works for them.

The SPOT Collaborative believes everyone deserves a voice. We support the therapists who are listed on our website by matching them to the right clients using our filters that match therapists to clients based on therapy services requested (feeding, speech therapy, occupational therapy, music therapy etc.), location of services (home, daycare, virtual), and insurance accepted. We encourage respecting all communication methods and presuming competence 💚🤍🩷
