We recognize that this is a profoundly difficult time for many students in light of recent acts of violence. Distressing events, near or far, affect the health of our community. When things feel overwhelming and nonstop, we might feel unsure of how to support ourselves & others. We send our support to our students from, and connected to, Hong Kong in the aftermath of the devastating Tai Po Building Fire.

On 12/8, we will host the Tai Po Fire Support Group from 4PM-5PM at 881 Commonwealth Ave (SHS). This group will provide a supportive space for students impacted by the Hong Kong fire, directly or indirectly. We will focus on community connection, emotional support, and grounding skills to help navigate the aftermath of this difficult event. ��

Calling all artists & creatives! 🎨✨ SHS is hiring 4 students to create custom artwork to enhance its marketing and communications materials (e.g. illustrations, graphic design assets, etc.)! The artwork will be used to humanize healthcare services, create engaging outreach materials, and promote various programs at SHS. You can now find five vending machines across BU campuses that sell emergency contraception (EC) pills (a generic version of Plan B). EC is available in Medi Cube vending machines, alongside other health and first aid supplies. Learn more about EC options and how to connect with a SHS provider to figure out which option is best for you at bu.edu/shs/ec.

SHS will be closed for appointments during Thanksgiving Break, from Wednesday, November 26 at 1:00 PM through Sunday,November 30. We will reopen on Monday, December 1 at 8:30am. As always, for urgent health concerns, SHS is available 24/7 via phone. If you need to see a doctor during this time and have SHIP, you can use Teladoc, an online health platform that provides 24/7 access to doctors by phone or video for urgent primary care or behavioral medicine concerns. You can also use Teladoc any time throughout the year when you can’t access SHS, for example, if you are away from campus. Consultations start at $40. Holidays can be fun and exciting, but they can also feel hectic and bring up a lot of emotions around family. If Thanksgiving break is stirring up difficult feelings, try making time for yourself, reaching out to chosen family, getting some sunlight, and reflecting on the things you enjoy in life. All BU students have free access to the Headspace app through , which offers gratitude-based mindfulness activities.
