A milestone for Parkinson’s care in New England. Dr. Rees Cosgrove and Dr. John Rolston recently completed the region’s first case using the newly approved PTT target therapy, expanding treatment options for patients by addressing a broader range of Parkinson’s symptoms. This innovative approach reflects our continued commitment to advancing neurosurgical care and bringing the latest therapies to patients.

Under the leadership of Alexandra J. Golby, MD — Director of Image-Guided Neurosurgery and Co-Director of the Advanced Multimodality Image-Guided Operating (AMIGO) Suite — Mass General Brigham continues to redefine precision neurosurgical care.

By integrating advanced multimodal imaging directly into the operating room, Dr. Golby and the multidisciplinary team are able to plan, adapt, and make critical decisions in real time during complex brain procedures. This seamless collaboration between imaging and surgery enhances accuracy, preserves function, and improves outcomes for patients facing brain tumors and other challenging neurologic conditions, setting a new global standard for image-guided neurosurgery

We are excited to highlight our latest research exploring how large language models can support postoperative decision making in a neurosurgery ward — even in low-resource settings. This pilot study showed improved care planning, meaningful clinical actions, and promising safety results, paving the way for AI-assisted care in global neurosurgery.

We’re especially grateful to OpenAI for providing engineering support that helped make this study possible.
