Breaking news for the CeD and Gluten-Free Communities! The FDA has issued a Request for Information regarding “Labeling and Preventing Cross-Contact of Gluten in Packaged Foods.” This marks a shift towards better labeling and transparency in packaged food for any gluten-containing ingredients or ingredients in contact with gluten. Further exploration into the inclusion or contamination of barley, rye, and oats in food products is being undertaken, and the gluten-free community is being called upon to help this push! To provide better understanding on this issue, those with celiac disease or on a gluten-free diet can help by filling out this survey by the Celiac Disease Foundation: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/FDAlabeling.
