Rogerson Communities Rogerson believes in the art of well-being for older adults & families. Our team is dedicated to it!

Rogerson Communities offers housing for low-income elders in the Boston neighborhoods of Jamaica Plain, Chinatown, Roxbury, Beacon Hill, West Roxbury and Roslindale. Residential care programs in West Roxbury, Back Bay and Wrentham. Rogerson also develops and managers moderate-income residences in Roslindale, South Weymouth, West Roxbury and Worcester. Adult day health and dementia day programs are offered in Roslindale and Roxbury with meals and transportation. Rogerson's state-of-the-art strength training program, Rogerson Fitness First, is offered to residents and day program participants. Fitness First is a physician-approved, trainer-supervised program that utilizes specially-calibrated machines designed to target the specific muscle groups that can improve elders' ability to perform activities of daily living. Rogerson Communities works in partnership with other non-profits to maximize their assets and offer more to elders at all levels of need. Our real estate development expertise has allowed other non-profits such as Greater Boston Chinese Golden Age Center, Sophia Snow House, Forward, Inc./Council of Elders of Roxbury, Pond Home of Wrentham and Mount Pleasant Home to vastly improve their facilities and services for elders.

Our goal of adding 1,000 new units of housing for older adults over the next five years is as ambitious as it is necessary.

The senior care crisis demands us to act. Our mothers and fathers, grandparents, and loved ones need us now more than ever.

With a portfolio split between affordable housing and senior living, Rogerson Communities is expanding its presence throughout the Boston metropolitan

More than supporting the students walking the campus at his alma mater, President and CEO Walter Ramos sees his role as Trustee as an opportunity to create a pipeline of needed professionals into the senior care space.

He hopes this style of outreach and interaction catches on with other leaders in the senior care field, saying it represents a crucial path forward through an uncertain future.

“This is part of your job: Go and bring in a new generation. It’s the sustainability of your organization… because if you don’t have the people, you can’t take care of people.”

Rogerson President and CEO Walter Ramos joins his alma mater's board of trustees and urges more students to consider the senior care field.

“This is a big issue that we have to be prepared for. And in my opinion, and those of us who work in this field know, we’re not ready for it yet.”

GBH toured Rogerson House as part of this important story, shedding critical light on the need for more memory care in Massachusetts.

For many families, the decision to place a loved one in a memory care facility is heartbreaking.

“The COO role calls not just for deep knowledge of senior living, housing, and care services, but also a passion for mission-driven work like ours. It demands excellence in operational and team leadership, strategic ex*****on, compliance and risk management, and financial stewardship. Mike has all of that and more. He’s a great fit for this organization.”

Rogerson Communities has hired Michael Quirk as its new Chief Operating Officer and will join the organization's leadership.

By 2030, 1.7 million people in Massachusetts will be over the age of 60, more than the entire population of Rhode Island. And more than half of them will not be able to afford housing or the level of care they need.

In fact, by that time the Commonwealth will lack more than 200,000 units of housing for people making even a median income. That's a housing footprint twice the size of Worcester's.

The need for supporting older adults is greater today than at any point in our 165-year history. Rogerson is committed to meeting that need, and we're calling on you to join us.

Help us spread the word so that all of our loved ones can age with dignity.

All are welcome at Rogerson Communities, and we showed that in style at our All Are Welcome social event at the Peter Faneuil House on Beacon Hill in September.

More than 60 residents from Peter Faneuil and the next-door Joy Street Residence, as well as Council Tower in Roxbury and Farnsworth House in Jamaica Plain, came together for a celebration of inclusion, respect, and LGBTQ+ pride. The building’s outdoor basketball court was transformed for the event into a party patio filled with live music, courtesy of MusicWorks, and the trademark aroma of peppers, onions, and sausages grilled up by local favorite The Sausage Guy.

Civic and community leaders, including state representative Jay Livingstone and Eric Reidister from state senator Lydia Edwards’ office, joined Rogerson President and CEO Walter Ramos in offering words of inspiration and support. As Jullianne Lee, Executive Director of the Mayor’s Office of LGBTQIA2S+ Advancement, put it, “Pride is not just in June, it’s 365 days a year. This is what true belonging looks like.”

Many thanks to Boston’s Age Strong Commission and the Beacon Hill Association Community Fund for their support of this joyful gathering!

Since the early days of his legal career in Boston, Jeffrey Sacks, partner and senior counsel at the law firm Nixon Peabody, has worked with Rogerson Communities in our efforts to develop affordable housing for older adults.

On September 29, Rogerson will gratefully recognize Jeff and Nixon Peabody for that longstanding dedication with the Charles E. Rogerson Award, the organization’s most prestigious honor.

Jeff’s passion for community-building, however, began even earlier in his life.

Jeff Sacks, partner and senior counsel at Nixon Peabody, has been a champion of Rogerson's mission and affordable housing for decades.
