Our Story
It wasn't always skimboards. While soul-searching about our own futures in late 2014, an idea provoked us; that the Coast represented the uniting factor between all the places we'd grown up in, and those whom we'd met along the way. Combining our network of people and places with a love of photography, design, and surf-culture; we realized that the term Eastern Seaboard perfectly exemplified the idea we were after. Not only that, but the coastline resembled the tattered edges of a hurricane warning flag, thus; the brand and logo was born. Having many close friends from Portland, Maine down past the beach towns of New Jersey, we realized that in these parts we are all the same. Eastern Seaboard is not only a locally grown brand, but a rallying cry, a manifestation of everything we believe in.
Eastern Seaboard was founded in Boston, Massachusetts back in 2015 as a design and creative company representing the East Coast. Our name describes the geographical location of the low-lying coastal states with a shoreline on the Atlantic Ocean. Our logo is derived from the infamous hurricane warning flag, as if it were tattered in the wind and ripped into the shape of the Coast. After launching with just an instagram account, we've grown into a custom skimboard company that celebrates skimboarding, surfing and beach-culture in general. Our boardmakers shape, layer and color each premium custom skimboard by hand. We aim for the highest quality of craftsmanship, applying the thoughtful design principles of composite boat-building and artistic flavor to make each board its own unique piece. Following a successful launch, our mission is to grow into a environmentally-friendly brand, by utilizing sustainable materials for both our boards and beach gear. We hope our eco-friendly initiatives can eventually make an impact on our local environment. We're New Englanders too, and we respect both the land and sea we've grown up around. We love supporting our local community, boarders, and beachgoers; so additionally, thank you guys for the continued support!
