Big news for anyone who experiences motion sickness: The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recently approved the first new prescription treatment in more than 40 years, which works by blocking a brain pathway that triggers the response to vomit.

Adrian Priesol, MD, balance and dizziness specialist, notes that while medications may help reduce symptoms, nondrug options can also play an important role.

The FDA approved the pill Nereus (tradipitant) as a new treatment for vomiting caused by motion sickness, with fewer side effects than older drugs.

We're grateful to The Willie Fund for raising $100,000 in 2025 to support head and neck cancer research at Mass Eye and Ear. The Willie Fund has given $246,000 over the past four years in honor of Willie Finigan who passed away after a courageous battle with squamous cell carcinoma, a form of head and neck cancer. We're appreciative of his family for choosing to honor his memory by advancing research.

When Mikey V was a teenager playing baseball, a pitch shattered his cheek and broke his nose. Surgery fixed it, but during recovery a football hit him in the face during practice, twisting his nose again.

From age 14 to 36, he lived with a deviated septum. But as a radio personality, it started affecting his voice, his teeth and even his sleep. So, he made the decision to have surgery again—this time with Mass Eye and Ear and Linda Lee, MD.

He bounced back quickly, returning to work in just seven days. After a second procedure to address a hematoma, recovery was smooth and life-changing. Now, he sleeps better, feels more energized and can finally breathe through his nose.

His biggest surprise? How different the process was compared to when he was a kid. And thanks to his mom’s way of putting people at ease (think big-nose glasses for everyone), he never lost his smile through it all.

Today, Mikey V is back on the air, back to traveling (European vacation included) and back to feeling his best self.
