Join NEMDA as they host an online, 1.25 CEU that examines the compensatory behaviors dietitians often overlook—particularly those rooted in exercise habits, “clean eating,” and broader wellness culture—and explores how these patterns can impact client health and nutrition care. This session is being led by Michelle Felton, LMHC, LCMHC, CEDS-C and Kat McCurdy, RDN, CEDS.

In this session, dietitians will sharpen their ability to distinguish healthy exercise from over-exercise and recognize key features of orthorexic tendencies in clients. We’ll unpack the influence of wellness culture, challenge common myths, and explore how these dynamics show up in practice. Participants will also learn when behaviors signal the need for referral to a higher level of care.

CDR has approved this webinar for 1.25 CEU’s (Activity #191622). This event will NOT be recorded. The CEU certificate will be shared with participants after the event has ended.

Cost: $25 for non-MAND members; $20 for MAND members; $10 for students
Deadline: Registration available until Wednesday, March 4th, 2026 (the day before the event).

TIME: 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Come and experience the workshop that puts your brain into poverty. You will see how your thinking and decision-making respond to scarcity.

After participating, you will learn the basics of brain science. You will understand what some take for granted (“give no thought to”) and how that differs for people coping with poverty. With so many things crowding the brain, people in poverty respond to certain kinds of communication and not others.

In this workshop, you will learn how to listen and respond effectively, improving your work with low-income families and clients.
